Suitable for teaching KS3 - ideally Y9 due to the content of the lesson; "Does genocide exist today?" Students will look at examples of genocide in the 20th century; Holodomor, Ukraine Cambodia Bosnia and Herzegovina Rwanda Armenia Using information sheets (provided) students will complete a table (differentiated) on the different genocides. Students will then be asked to reflect on what they have learnt; Who is responsible for genocide? Are other people responsible if they do not try to stop the genocide? Why do people treat other human beings in ways like these? What would you do if you were in a situation where a group was being targeted? What can we do to stop genocide from happening in the future? This can open up some fantastic and thoughtful discussions. I use this lesson after teaching the Holocaust, as often I find other genocides tend to be forgotten about in the curriculum. For teaching 11-14s Holocaust This lesson looks at 'What was life like in the Warsaw Ghetto?' Students will start by looking at what is a ghetto and their locations across occupied Europe. This also includes a timeline of how the ghettos came to be. Students will then look in depth at the Warsaw Ghetto by watching a series of videos by Yad Visham on YouTube. They will also look at a letter written from Warsaw Ghetto and complete one of three differentiated tasks! Finally students will write their own letter from the Warsaw Ghetto describing what life was like. This lesson is differentiated for all students in your class, and includes all resources needed. An interactive lesson for teaching 11-14s on the weapons of WW1. Students make their own Top Trump cards about 7 weapons (ranging from tanks, rifles and zeppelins), using the differentiated information sheets! All worksheets are provided - including the information sheets and the template for the Top Trumps. I printed the Top Trump templates onto cards and students were then able to play them in lesson, and take them home to share with family! How tall are you compared to famous historical figures? This is one of my favourite displays I have made! 45 famous historical figures and their HEIGHTS! I have used this in a corridor and students, staff and even parents love comparing their heights to some of the most famous people in history. This is perfect for primary or secondary schools. All you need is a 2 metre ruler stick so you can accurately position the faces of the famous people. Included in this pack are: Pictures of all 45 people Labels showing their name and height Included are a huge range of historical figures; from science, literature, music, art, world leaders and more!
