Hi All!
Here’s a pack of resources that can be used for diary entries and descriptions of Mr Morris Lessmore (and his fantastic flying books, of course!)
There are differentiated writing frames, worksheets that’re attractive for presenting work and photos for stimuli.
Enjoy :)
A differentiated, Egyptian themed resource where children have to place apostrophes into the correct places, state whether it is singular or plural and define the key terms.
Hello Fellow Teachers,
Here is a large pack for an entire unit of diary writing lessons. It’s a week long, and all of the planning, resources, evaluations, examples, success criteria and word banks are provided!
Even included two fonts for you so that you can edit the .doc format files at your leisure!
Hopefully all of the above should help to turn the focus back to teaching as opposed to all of the other stuff we have to do!
If you’re looking for home-learning projects, here are links to the resources I’ve put together for whilst the children are distance learning and off school.

Book Review worksheet concentrating on summarising, forming opinions and concluding on How To Train Your Dragon (Book 1) by Cressida Cowell.
In this book review, children are asked to summarise the main parts of the story, give their opinion on the story as a whole, state the funniest, scariest and favorite parts, rate the story from 1-5, explain if they would recommend the book, and discuss who their favourite and least favourite characters were.
This works great as a post-text exercise, and also works as a movie review if you are following the feature film instead. Reviewing books helps children know that it’s okay to like or dislike a book, and also allows them to work out what their favorite genres are.
Included in this download:
PDF version of the book review
.docx Word document version of the book review for editing purposes
‘Lost in Chalk’ font to help you edit the resource and keep the style
I hope this resource helps you to save time and save stress!
Thank you, and happy teaching!

A Pugs of the Frozen North themed worksheet that I used for a week-long homework task based on subtraction using the column method.
There are four challenges in increasing difficulty that see children securing more and more desirable food for the pugs when Shen is abandoned with them on the frozen ocean.
Week 3 of 6- A no-prep lesson that explores sketching and shading techniques whilst drawing natural objects from observation. Children in grades 1-3 will learn to critique peer’s artwork kindly and use high-level artistic vocabulary to describe their own work. A perfect art unit for Autumn, Spring or Summer!
This product contains a 16-slide Teaching PowerPoint that guides students through developing a sketching technique whilst looking at the definitions of topical vocabulary such as line, shape, texture, pattern, tone and sketch. Using the worksheet provided, children are encouraged to draw natural objects such as leaves or flowers with sketching pencils, using the ‘tickle the spider’ technique explained on the slides. Examples of what work may look like are included.
This activity can be conducted as a class, or in smaller wellbeing groups to work on mindfulness or calming SEN children during the chaos of the school day. The focus is on gaining digital literacy skills, such as photo editing, uploading and downloading images from Google, cutting out images from their backgrounds and arranging them aesthetically.
This lesson is likely to take 1.5-2 hours, and requires the use of natural objects obtained on a nature walk (either in a previous lesson in this unit or at the start of this one!) If you don’t have access to outdoor space for your students, images from online search engines can be used!

Differentiated worksheets for children to present artist research, opinion & analysis along with a page for attempting to recreate and replicate the artist’s style.
Sometimes, the way children present their research findings in art isn’t up to scratch with their practical work. This resource gives children the opportunity to show their findings neatly (with sentence starters, word banks and prompts to help guide their writing) and give opinions on the artists’ work.
This resource is re-usable as it’s not artist-specific and gender-neutral pronouns are used. The second version of the artist research page is scaffolded for lower-ability writers.
Included in this download:
3-page PDF for demonstrating knowledge on artists
Word .docx versions of the pages so you can tailor the sheets to your students’ needs
Lost in Chalk font for editing your resources in keeping with the current style
Hand drawn page borders that can be used on other classroom materials (not for commercial use)
Hand-drawn paint tube clip art that can be used on other classroom materials (not for commercial use)
I hope this resource saves you time and stress!
Happy teaching,
Miss Austin
