This is a series of lessons guiding a mid-low ability Y7 class through writing to persuade. I have used it to assess for writing AF1, 3. 7 & 8. I created these resources to introduce my low ability Y10 to narrative writing in preparation for their first and third person writing for WJEC. It could be used for high ability Y9 too. They really enjoy the first lesson with the receipts; I asked in about in the staffroom for unwanted supermarket receipts, alternatively just collect yourself a few and photocopy them instead of giving each child a different receipt. Feel free to use & adapt, comments would be appreciated :)

A lesson on how to prepare for writing a formal letter. Exam task included. Used for KS4 exam preparation, this could also be adapted for KS3. You will need to source a poor example of a letter to use for one of the activities: I used some exemplar material from the exam board for this purpose. Please leave feedback if you find it useful.

A complete scheme of work with accompanying Powepoints and printable worksheets.\n\nThere is a scanned copy of the easy version of MSND too - which my Y7 set found really useful to read first to get their heads around the plot. \nThere is an assessment preparation lesson on Puck and the assessment questions on the following PPT, looking at RAF2, 5, and 7. \nThe last PPT (L11) I turned into a Speaking and Listening presentation.

A quick starter activity for a lesson on a transition day to find out a little information about new students. There's a push on extra-curricular in our school for next year, so that why there's a space for what clubs they attend at primary school and what new opportunities they'd like at high school. This is our way of finding out, so we can plan ahead! Editable for your own needs.

PPT identifies key reminders about Romeo's character & outlines all the key scenes Romeo appears in. I got my students to create a poster presentation based on one of the acts and then their small group presented their poster of analysis for that act back to the rest of the class. Suggested things to cover on their poster include: personal impressions of Romeo, key quotations, any patterns of behaviour or changes in behaviour, relationships with other characters. Once all groups had presented their poster (ensuring all groups had covered all the named acts & scenes) I photocopied their work so each child had analysis of Romeo across the whole play. This activity could be easily replicated for other characters. I encouraged them to be as creative as possible - lots of coloured paper, sticking bits on, creating wordles etc. My class liked a bit of creativity after the heavy going of mock exam prep!

This short powerpoint served me as preparation for a Literature mock exam - it is also useful for revision purposes.

I used this to prepare my students for a mock exam. I got students to plan and write their talk, then some to model their ideas on the IWB and as a class we gave feedback on structure and language.
