A detailed knowledge organiser/revision mat for AQA GCSE English Language, Paper 1, Question 4. This question is worth 20 marks and requires students to evaluate a statement in relation to a text. This resource can be used to support students as they write their answers or distributed as a revision resource.
A 74 page booklet for students to revise and prepare for Paper 1 of the AQA English Language exam. The booklet includes six extracts and six practice exam papers for students to work through.
Extracts taken from:
‘Of Mice and Men’, ‘A Monster Calls’, ‘The Graveyard Book’, ‘Rebecca’, ‘The Great Gatsby’ and ‘The Goldfinch’.
After each paper I have included a student reflection sheet for students to evaluate how well they did on question 4.
Also inlcluded is a revision mat for question 4 as well as some writing prompts.

A series of six revision ‘masterclass’ lessons designed to improve students’ responses to question 4 on Paper 1. Students often struggle with this part of the paper so I have created this resource specifically to build students’ confidence in tackling this question.
Each lesson includes learning objectives, a starter and review activity, model answers and opportunities for students to self/peer assess and reflect upon their own progress.

A two week (8 lesson) scheme of work introducing students to Paper 1, Section A (Explorations in Creative Reading) of the new AQA English Language GCSE. The aim is to introduce students to the format of the exam and teach them the skills needed to analyse unseen prose extracts to be able to answer questions 1-3.
The scheme of work focuses on extracts from the opening of 'Fahrenheit 451', 'From Russia With Love' and 'The Night Circus' - I have not been able to upload these due to copyright restrictions but they are available online. An anthology of 'unseen poems' to use for revision. The booklet is geared towards students sitting the AQA Certificate in English Literature but could easily be adapted. Teaches students to use the 'MITSL' approach to analyse poems.
