The Equation of a Circle x² + y² = r²

(1)
These ten worksheets guide students through the origin of the x² + y² = r² equation of a circle and use a variety of problems to reinforce their understanding of the equation and its uses. Tangents are also introduced as are the methods for finding points of intersection between lines and circles. There are plenty of reminders for solving simple quadratic equations like x² = 16 and also simultaneous equations where one equation is not linear. Written for the GCSE 9-1 specs but the material is also useful for A-level C2 students. Some of the sheets are similar so one can be done in class and the other used for reinforcement. There are problem sheets to extend the most students. As ever, the aim with SKILLSHEETS is to encourage learners to think about what they are doing and use diagrams to help them understand the topic. Fraction Grids

Fraction Grids

(1)
This collection of 10 worksheets will help students to visualise fractions better by shading diagrams to represent particular fractions. There is progression from the simple pages where the boxes can be shaded by just counting 3 out of 4 boxes for example to those where the student has to see how to split a 4x5 grid into tenths in order to shade 7/10. There are worksheets that require fractions to be identified then cancelled or for a diagram to be interpreted in two different ways e.g. 10/15 = 2/3. One page considers the shaded AND unshaded parts of a grid that must always make up the whole. The last page illustrates how fractions can be compared in size by converting them to have a common denominator. DfE reference for GCSE 9-1 R3, N1 Please review this resource. ARITHMETIC 2 - Multiply and Divide
SkillsheetsSkillsheets

ARITHMETIC 2 - Multiply and Divide

(0)
This set of arithmetic worksheets is written and illustrated for adults and older teenagers who want to improve their basic arithmetic skills but it is also suitable for younger age groups. It is ideal for helping people to practise their times tables. These SKILLSHEETS show students the basic principles behind multiplication and division and the connections between them. The book is structured to ensure progression from the idea of counting objects in groups to memorising multiplication facts and using formal and informal methods with understanding to solve problems. Each times table has its own page. There are plenty of examples of how to use tricks and patterns to work out complicated multiplications mentally. Estimation skills are also covered. The word problem sheets throughout the book assess students’ ability to apply their skills to real situations. Knowing when to multiply or divide is as important as knowing how to. The worksheets on multiplication and division by 10, 100, and 1000 focus on shifting digits’ place value to take students away from the “add a zero to times by ten” idea which causes problems once decimals are involved. Each worksheet comes in three versions. Monochrome, colour or on-screen completion ( answers need to be checked by a tutor ) Please review this resource and visit my TES shop and website to see similar products.
