This is a copy of all of the questions that I used for my GCSE students this summer. They sat the edexcel course but the questions could equally be used for the AQA course.

A wordsearch to revise. This includes the top 30 most common words that appear in answers on the French Edexcel listening and reading papers from 2018-2021. Students need to translate the words into French and then find the French word in the puzzle.

This is a power point that I made for a Y11 class a couple of years ago and was a DIRT lesson to support the 90 word task. It is designed for a mixed ability class. A exam fit booklet with useful guidance and vocabulary lists for success on the foundation Edexcel papers with model answers. Plus a booklet called Je parle franglais to support students being successful in the writing and speaking exam. It includes questions on all five themes with sentence builders and questions.

The resource contains two lessons on the uses of technology. The first powerpoint introduces the topic and the second powerpoint consolidates the vocabulary. The puzzle requires students to find the Spanish for the English words in the puzzle. A good starter activity and a solution sheet is provided of where the words are hidden.

This activity can be printed either single sided or double sided. It is great for retrieval, checking for understanding and as a settler or a more excitable starter/activity in class. Slide 1 -includes a pronunciation activity on the “th” sound linked to numbers and a connect four game (numbers are translated to English. Slide 2 -includes the same activities with numbers being said into Spanish. Slide 3- is a self quiz sheet to learn the numbers.

Here is a retrieval starter that I have made for my Y7 class who are just learning how to talk about themselves. It contains: a phonics exercise an exercise on capital letters and months. a spelling exercise on numbers an adjectival agreement task. Match the sentence task. a self quizzing task or vocabulary learner on the back based on the key verbs that we have covered. The answers for all of the exercises are provided.

A lesson which hopefully will revise many aspects of school life and help students to prepare for the photo card part of the speaking exam. The lesson materials are differentiated for foundation and higher students and can be used in a mixed ability/mixed tier class. The lesson includes revision of language to be used when describing a photo and revision of the present tense endings. There is also a differentiated worksheet for foundation and higher students which provides some support for understanding and structuring answers for the bullet points.

This is a quick revision activity for students completing GCSE French Edexcel. It is the top 20 most common words that are used on the candidate role play cards. Students have to translate the words from English into French using the wordsearch for support. There is a reminder about adding accents to words that are found in the wordsearch. An answer for the wordsearch is also provided on the worksheet too.

This French retrieval starter includes the following items: a mixture of vocabulary and grammar building exercises a self quiz of some of the key verbs in all 3 tenses to support the development of writing and speaking.

The resource includes a ppt which introduces: -key festivals in France and what they celebrate. -loto game -sentence builders (how I celebrate a festival) -listening choices (to introduce present tense activities) -a narrow reading -translation -some past tense phrases too. There is also a present tense work sheet on festivals in the present tense and a knowledge organiser that includes the past and the present.
