GCSE Biology AQA Required Practical Revision Sheets

(1)
AQA GCSE required practical revision notes/sheets covering all of the Biology Required Practicals (for triple science). Despite being worth 15% of the marks, so many students don’t allocate specific revision time to the required practicals. I designed these sheets for my own students to encourage specific revision of the practicals and have seen a great improvement in practical knowledge and the ability to answer practical-based questions. Each sheet includes an example method and most importantly, exam-style questions and model answers. The model answers for the exam-style questions have been written based on previous mark schemes, but I cannot guarantee that future mark schemes will be exactly the same. The model answers are for guidance only. Students should be encouraged to use these sheets as a starting point and update/annotate them with any further information as needed.

Useful as a revision or homework exercise to check understanding. Completed worksheets can then form part of the student’s revision notes. My students love completing these visually appealing worksheets, which break topics down into manageable chunks. Useful as a revision exercise or as a quick assessment. All worksheets are black and white to allow students to add colour to the diagrams, a process which is thought to aid the formation of visual memories. Photosynthesis pack Includes 4 worksheets covering: structure/function of chloroplasts light dependent reaction light independent reaction * limiting factors of photosynthesis 2 different light independent reaction worksheets are included - one with ‘TP’ for AQA/OCR, and the other with ‘GALP’, for those teaching the Edexcel specification. For each worksheet, differentiated versions are included: a version containing just the diagram, for more confident students to annotate themselves. a scaffolded version, with ‘fill in the gap’ structure. Completed versions with answers are also included. APOLOGIES - typo on the light independent reaction is now corrected (original version stated triglycerides were synthesised from GP, this sentence should have read ‘fatty acids are synthesised from GP’). Respiration pack Includes 5 worksheets covering: structure of mitochondria / sites of aerobic respiration glycolysis the link reaction & Krebs cycle oxidative phosphorylation anaerobic respiration (lactate fermentation and alcoholic fermentation). For most worksheets, differentiated versions are included: where appropriate, a version containing just the diagram, for more confident students to annotate themselves. a scaffolded version, with ‘fill in the gap’ structure. Completed versions with answers are also included (for oxidative phosphorylation, answers for both permutations of total ATP produced are included, in order to cover all exam boards i.e. 32 / 38 total ATP).

Revision Timetable Printable PDF

(0)
Printable revision timetables ideal for GCSE and A-level students. Download contains 4 different colour options, plus one black and white version. For each different colour, there is an option with time slots already completed & a blank version for students to choose their own timings for each session. The two hour slots at the beginning & end of each day are for completing past papers - for any other revision, make sure you have a break after 1 hour of revising. I personally don’t suggest students timetable revision for early in the morning and late in the evening on the same day - choosing one or the other is usually best, depending on when students work best.
