Clean Heels - Investigating Pressure

Clean Heels - Investigating Pressure

This activity is for KS3 students who have already been introduced to the concept of pressure and the formula P=F/A. It was inspired by the Dragon’s Den episode where the company Clean Heels pitched their idea, which won an investment. Students calculate pressure from two different shoes, then calculate the difference this product makes. There is a final creative task (if time allows or HW) to create an advert for the company.

GCSE energy equations colouring minibook

This makes a nice little 8 page book which summarises energy equations for GCSE. Students should use the same colour for the matching parts of each equation (see image). Complete the sheet first before folding. Students should fold and cut along the dotted line. Follow the instructions in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21qi9ZcQVto Also included is a summary slide of equations. It is from AQA but I think other boards are similar.

This is aimed at edexcel A level biology but may be relevant to other boards/subjects. I've taken common command words from exams and have attempted to explain their meaning through this activity.

Euglena - Plant or Animal?

This activity is adapted from a Kings' College resource and develops argumentation skills. It is also a good summary of the differences between plant and animal cells and an introduction to classification.

Elements Top Trumps

A simple game of top trumps which the students make. This is designed for students to make cards on computers and print them out to play. It can also be done by hand if you print the templates off. In groups of 5, each student makes 4 cards (use the groups slips to allocate elements). I have restricted it to the first 20 elements, but obviously you can extend it if you want bigger sets. Then print off and play - see the instructions for more details.
