The essential is to be able to expand brackets, the excel is factorising and the challenge is to be able to factorise and expand. There is a GCSE booklet that is broken down into these three levels for students to complete. The booklet can be printed into 3 sections, or printed as a booklet or printed without the answers. The answers can be stuck around the room, or with the booklet.

This is a revision lesson for students to revise simplifying, solve and inequalities. For the starter students should brain storm everything that they know about these three terms. For the introduction, complete a couple of questions on each for the students and then give them the GCSE booklet to complete. The answers are provided at the back. These can either be printed with the questions so that students can check them as they do the questions. Or they can be printed and stuck up around the room for students to check. Or they can be given at the end of the lesson. It could also be used as a mini test on these topics.

This works really well if the easy questions are printed on green, the middle on orange, the hardest on red and blue for the answers. The students then can match up the answers knowing whether they are correct or not. There is also a singing plenary.
