A set of resources I have used with pupils in their first year of learning German: a few puzzles, a set of flashcards and a present tense worksheet. Topics include clothes, shops, food and drink. Quick French starter activity on the future tense
A French starter activity with suggestions of what life will be like in the future, using ‘on va/on ne va pas’, could easily be adapted to use whole aller paradigm. Pupils can construct complete sentences and match to pictures, could extend this by adding more detail or substituting the vocab.

KS3 French: Healthy lifestyle, food and drink
These tasks and resources are suited to various levels of ability at KS3. They cover foods, drinks, dishes, meals, eating healthily and living healthily. There’s a lot of vocab practice and several tasks suitable for leaving as cover work, with full instructions and answers provided (on a separate page).

A set of sentences in French about the school day, chopped in half for pupils to match starts and ends. This sheet is photocopiable and would suit pairwork: I keep the starts of the sentences together and chop up the endings so pupils can move them around.

French KS3 grammar basics: verbs
A set of worksheets and activities on common regular and irregular verbs in the present, perfect and near future tenses. Also reflexive verbs in the present tense. Some are quick starter tasks, others are longer worksheets which would be well suited to homework or cover lesson tasks. All these resources are aimed at years 7, 8 and 9, but equally may be useful revision materials for lower ability GCSE students. A saving of 50% compared to buying these resources separately! I’ve included some free resources just because they match this group.
French differentiated reading comprehension about holidays
A pair of French texts, very similar in content but one using more elaborate language and more detail. Reading comprehension questions are on separate sheets. You could use this as a running competition, where the texts are stuck on the wall and pupils must take turns in a group to run to find an answer. Also can be used as scaffolding to support a piece of writing - the underlined vocab can be replaced with pupils’ own choice.
French gap-fill task describing hotel accommodation in imperfect tense
A set of 15 sentences in French with a word missing in each. Pupils choose the correct word from the list below to fill each gap. Sentences describe hotel accommodation in the imperfect tense. Could then be used as a translation exercise into English, or pupils could adapt or extend the sentences. Two copies fit on a side of A4, making it cheaper to photocopy. Answers provided on page 2 of the document.
French conversation questions about school
A list of 9 questions about school, all present tense except one future conditional. Can be used as pair work for listening/speaking, is suitable for exam preparation or revision, could also work as a lesson starter (one pupil gives a statement, another says which question it answered, for example). Four sets of questions fit on one side of A4.
