Nazi perescution of Jews 1939-42 - Timeline ideal for A Level

This timeline gives a detailed overview of the impact of war on Nazi persecution of the Jewish people. Included is plenty of precise detail and historian’s views. My A Level students have found this a very useful resource when approaching essays focused on this topic. It is especially good at demonstrating Christopher Browning’s ‘euphoria of victory’ interpretation on the decision making process concerning the ‘Final Solution’.

AQA Democracy and Nazism: Hitler's Appointment timeline worksheet

This resource was created to help students understand the events leading up to Hitler’s appointment. The Bruning, Papen and Schleicher chronology can be difficult for some students to process but this timeline worksheet has helped massively. I use it with the textbook and the revision guides I have made for the students. When it is filled in, students can clearly see why each chancellor before Hitler’s appointment failed to stabilise the economic and political situation in Germany.

AQA Democracy and Nazism - Analysis of the persection of the Jews 1933-1942

This is a thorough analysis of Nazi persecution against the Jews. I have found this best done after studying Nazi persecution against the Jews the period 1933-41, although it could be used as an introduction to this period. This resources provides a thorough and clear timeline of key laws and events that students can use to identify key turning points from 1933-1942. There is also a thorouh timeline on the period 1940-42 analysing the impact of the war on Nazi racial policy towards the Jews and historian’ interpretations, especially Christopher Browning’ ‘euphoria of victory’ interpretation. There is also a clear and thorough analysis of the Intentionalist and functionalist schools of thought and those of contemporary historians. Key events are also analysed according to these schools of thought to see which arguments the students find most convincing. Also provided is an overview of the debate on complicity in the Holocaust. Throughout the lesson there are key questions for students to discuss and debate. At the end of the PPT there are four exam style questions for students to analyse and plan on an essay planning sheet. Students find this resource/lesson very helpful and enjoy the rigour involved. A must for A Level historians.

OCR SHP 1-9: Crime and Punishment Timeline 1250-Present - use as handouts or as a display.

This resource has a thorough timeline of the Crime and Punishment course for OCR SHP 1-9. However, it can be easily amended for other boards. The timeline is split into 4 parts - 1250-1500, 1500-1750, 1750-1900 and 1900-present. There is Blue line and information for crimes, red for law enforcement and green for punishments. It is a very effective overview and cuts the course down simply for students. Students like these a lot as the can easily see key changes and continuities, and also the 5 key factors they have to analyse in each period.

OCR SHP - Causes of American Civil War

(0)
Included in this resource is a one page summary of the causes of the American Civil War and an activity sheet. This divides the causes up into economic, social and political causes. The economic causes has been done for them as we studied this earlier in the year. This can also be adapted easily for long-term and short-term causes. The presentation has an activity on it that is liked by my students - significance circles. This helps them form a judgement on the significance of each cause.

This resource was created for a ‘turbo’ revision session that lasted an hour. There is an explain question on the expansion of slavery with a detailed but simplified overview of three key reasons why this happened. There is also a 9 mark (write an organised summary) question on the railways and two plans for questions on homesteaders. There is a detailed summary of the Homesteaders section to aid with these plans. Pupils found these very useful and were able to access the exam questions well.
