I produced this set of storboards so pupils can work in pairs and use the labels and images to intrepret the role of bile. It frees the teacher so you can visit groups and offer support. I used this with a middle ability Year 11 class and they understood and remembered the role of the liver very well. I suggest you tell the pupils to write their ideas on post-it-notes, one for each box and then motivate the pupils to remember the story and quiz each other. I have included the worksheet which the pupils should complete from memory.

Pupils love this lesson. The task is for them to design and make a boat out of tin foil and sellotape, then compete against each other to find out how much mass their boat will hold before sinking. To make it more engaing I've based it around a Pirates of the Carribean theme. The worksheet makes sure they evaluate their own design and the winning one.

I produced this set of resources to engage top set students in learning about moments. It focuses on calculations. The worksheets are also creative and pupils enjoy completing them.

You can tell by the response whether the answer is correct or incorrect. They love the 'gentle' insults if they are wrong.

I produced this resource so that I could make my lesson on pressure more interesting. My aim was to link it to everyday situations. Pupils are challenged to explain how the shape of objects affects the pressure they exert.

The worksheet for making compounds is to be used during a practical lesson where Mg, Cu and Iron wool are heated in air.

I designed this quiz to engage lower ability pupils. It is used to assess their progress in a fun way at the end of the Rocks topic. Pupils are given a sheet to note down their answers and this can be stuck into their exercise books afterwards. When you are ready to mark, the quiz can become interactive. In Section A, pupils double click on the correct answer and will hear a response identifying whether the answer is correct or incorrect. In Section B, the answer appears on screen. I have used the 'Flintstones' font. You can download it easily using google to search for it. Have fun!

An independent learning acitivity where you are free to visit and question groups. Pupils interpret the images in each box and write their ideas on post-it-notes. They learn to use labels and images and are able to discuss ideas. I have made the story accessible to all abilities. I have included a variety of worksheets which pupils can complete once they have learned the process of respiration.

This Powerpoint is to be used alongside the 'learning mat' and worksheet that I've also uploaded. Since the emphasis of lesson observations has shifted so that teachers are expected to plan lessons that enable students to learn independently of the teacher, I've planned this lesson to enable group work whereby students learn how glucose levels are controlled by interperting a storyboard. I hope you find it useful.

The Powerpoint is a quiz. Pupils use the interactive whiteboard and double tap on the answer. I have added sound effects to each label. You can tell from the effect which answer is correct. If you enjoy it I have included a similar one for 'Cells'. The worksheet is to assess understanding. It works well if pupils have access to highlighters. There isn't one correct answer - it depends on the explanation. Encourage more able students for find detailed links between the key words in order to explain the 'odd one out'. This activity is great for differentiation.

The aim of this quiz was 'fun'. I made it to engage and motivate lower ability sets. I have used it as a plenary to assess progress at the end of the topic in Year 7 and as a starter to Year 9.

I designed this storyboard for independent learning. Pupils work in pairs to interpret each image and write their answers on post-it-notes for each box. Pupils use the labels and images to learn in detail the path of a nerve impulse. The worksheet assesses their understanding by applyng it to Christopher Reeve and his paralysis. I have included markschemes so pupils can self assess and correct their work.

IMPORTANT - the second slide following the objectives if the fun part. Click on each image to hear a sound - the pointer will change to a hand. Students have to 'guess' what is making the sound and write down their responses in the first section of the worksheet. To mark, if you then click anywhere on that slide (except the images) so that the pointer remains as an arrow, the answers will be revealed. Lower ability students really enjoy completing this worksheet. You can even have milk bottles to demonstrate how the pitch changes when they are filled to different levels with water.

This is resource contains two lessons on KS4 hormones - adrenaline and thyroxine. It is designed so that students are fully engaged and can use the images to work out for themselves how these hormones affect their target organs. Answers for tasks are provided on the powerpoint.

A complete lesson to assess the ability of your class to understand inheritance and complete punnett squares. Cystic fibrosis, polydactyl and gender are the three themes. I made this as an introduction to the Earth & Space topic with the aim of gaining pupils interest. 'Rule the World' by Take That should play in the background. The song matches the presenation perfectly. I have found that the pupils really enjoy watching it.

I designed this boardgame to assess pupils understanding at the end of the unit. Print out the boardgame template in colour and enlarge it onto A3 paper. Print the questions onto the back of the cartoon cards. You will need to buy dice and counters. When someone lands on a question mark, the person to the right picks up a card and reads out the question. If the pupil answers correctly, he/she can move the number of spaces given on the card.

This resource covers dominant and recessive, co dominance, incomplete dominance and sex linked disorders by providing a collection of worksheets for students to practice the crosses. You can teach it very quickly and thoroughly assess your students understanding.
