er verbs GCSE tenses conjugation race

(10)
This is another of my verb card races. Print off the cards from the word doc and get groups to compete against each other to get the translations right. It uses the verb 'porter' as an example and requires knowledge of the present, perfect, imperfect, future and near future.

French (MFL) Father Christmas jokes 2

(4)
A Christmas worksheet, fill in missing verbs.Pupils can be given the infinitives and told to work out what tenses they have to use. Alternatively, you could decide to give them no help at all and let them get inventive. You could of course give out the answers and get them to match the captions to the blank pictures. Apologies in advance for my frightful sense of humour. Blank version and suggested answers included.

Perfect Tense Card Race - être verbs

NEW VERSION for être verbs. Print out the cards and laminate them. Pupils work in pairs or small groups and race against each other to form the perfect tense with the cards after reading the infinitive and the subject from the PowerPoint. Good element of competition and really highlights how much (or little!) they actually know. Includes all 13 être verbs and agreement. Can be easily adapted to suit your requirements too.

AS A2 French speaking bingo game

(12)
This is a bingo game that can be used during 6th form speaking sessions. The idea is to cross off as many boxes as possible by using the phrases/tenses/specific vocabulary correctly. It encourages students to think about their range of language whilst they debate. It can be adapted for all ranges and to suit all topics.

We laminate these and have them on every desk in the classroom. The feedback from our pupils is really positive and they have helped increase the amount of language used spontaneously in class.

MFL Talk boardgame 1 - Lifestyle

(29)
Game board enabling pupils to revise key vocabulary for the topic of Lifestyle. All you need is a die and some counters. I print the boards out in colour A3 size and laminate them. Can be used for any language. I have uploaded four other boards for the other topics too. Very good for independent learning, encouraging spontaneous speaking (group talk) and GCSE revision. Do let me know if you think it needs altering in any way.

MFL Verbs & Tenses flowers

(15)
I use these to teach regular present tense verb patterns to beginners, but the flowers can be used for any tense that is made of a stem and ending. I have displays of flowers in all of the language classrooms. You can reduce the size of the flowers and print multiple copies on a page. Pupils can then make a collage to represent all of the verb groups or tenses they know.

GCSE French complex structures- the A* cake

(69)
This is a presentation designed to encourage GCSE pupils to use a variety of complex structures in their written and spoken controlled assessments. The worksheet asks them to build up lists of different kinds of grammatical structures (there is a honeycomb of different examples to start with) before embarking on their own creations. I asked mine to work with their AQA word lists. Apologies to Heston Blumenthal. All feedback gratefully received.

Simple introduction to the perfect tense. I use this after having taught a lesson on the perfect tense in English where I ask the class (they use Expo 2 vert so they are not high flyers) to spot patterns in regular and irregular English verbs. the worksheet is designed for them to fill in as you go through the presentation.
