These revision cards cover most C1 and C2 topics and can be used as an individual or class activity. Individuals can ask friends/relatives to test them using these cards. For use in class, hand out one laminated card per pupil. They circulate round the class, pairing up to ask and answer their questions, then swapping cards and pairing up with someone else. It's a nice active revision lesson. Please do let me know if I&'ve made any errors on these cards. C3, S1 and S2 cards are also available.

This worksheet helps pupils understand how variation is represented on box plots. Either ask pupils to complete the worksheet or ask pupils to come up with their own box plots eg 'can you draw a box plot representing the ages of guests at an 18th birthday party?' etc.

Exploring Graphs with Desmos

Exploring Graphs with Desmos

(9)
Desmos is very user-friendly. After a short demonstration on the IWB, pupils are able to spend a whole lesson on a computer or tablet using Desmos to explore graph types and simple transformations. I used this worksheet with Year 9 - there's enough here for two lessons.

Introduction to Writing Algebraically

Introduction to Writing Algebraically

(9)
Based on an exercise I spotted in an antique maths textbook, this exercise is designed to build confidence in writing algebraically. Students are presented with pairs of questions: in each pair, one question involves numbers, and the equivalent question involves algebra. The idea is that if they know how to do it with numbers, then they just do the same thing with the algebra. This should be an accessible introduction to algebra, drawing on students’ existing skills. An editable version is provided, and answers are included.
