Step by step portraiture

This scheme of work was used with year 7 and 8, but I feel it would be a success with any learner struggling with portraits. I used each facial feature for a whole lesson with relevant starters and plenaries. After 5 lessons the learners were able to put together a detailed portrait.

Design a logo & quiz

This powerpoint has been used for a low ability keystage 4 group of boys. It has enabled them to understand what a logo is and how to go about designing their own logo. Especially as they are not allowed to rub out their ideas, it helps teach them that all ideas are good ones and all plans should be kept as part of planning/understanding assessment. Students will look at 4 formal elements to use within their shoot, create a full shoot plan inspired by Rankin They will produce contact sheets working through the image approval process. They will choose which images they want to take forward to destroy. once destroyed in the style of Rankin they can be scanned in and digitally manipulated. Assessment sheets included Evaluation lesson included

This resouce covers around 3 hrs of GCSE prep work, I used it for a graphics project based on packaging. The students used the patterns they create for backgrounds to ‘pattern packaging’ Research A01 and Experimenting A02 when the results are scanned in and used digitally they look great, super lessons for all abilities. Will need photoshop skills for final outcomes and using a clipping mask. This is part of a wider packagaing project

This was used for a year 9 group before they had to make a decison for the options. I designed a visual lesson, kineasthetic lesson and auditory lesson. This SOW would work for year9, 10 and 11. Where the learners will have the chance to discuss, design and produce their own shots while understanding how they are created. Download all items. Thanks Rachel Thomas - Art Teacher, North West.

I have designed this for a mixed group of boys, all with a variety of learning difficulties. They enjoy focusing on specific shapes and colours, and working neatly to create a final piece. Hope it works for you too! Rachel Thomas: Art Teacher, North West.
