Main responsibilities

  • Writing and developing of SOW
  • Monitoring progress of students and putting in interventions
  • Research into Mastery
  • Learning walks of classes
  • Supporting all teachers in the department
  • Communicate with parents
  • Complete book and homework scrutiny
  • Promoting English across the whole school
  • Line management of staff
  • Provide staff with details of assessments and deadlines
  • Check student reports and ATLs
  • Regularly meet with Curriculum Lead
  • Work with intervention and assessment manager
  • Deliver at English staff meeting and INSET
  • Prepare resources for KS4 focus day
  • Work with Curriculum Lead on exam entries
  • Contribute to department development plan
  • Working and liaising with AHT for Teaching & Learning
  • Monitor and track learning and teaching
  • Be responsible to Curriculum Lead


The purpose of this list is to indicate the general level of responsibility of the post. We are in our fifth year since opening, located just north of Horsham, West Sussex. We currently provide for students in years 7-11. Over the next few years we will grow to become an all-through school for 1620 students aged 4-16 with a nursery facility. We are part of the supportive and innovative Bohunt Education Trust, a MAT with eight schools including two Sixth Forms and a boarding facility. We may be separated geographically, however, all BET schools share an uncompromising belief in high achievement and high expectations, a real sense of community and a dynamic, innovative approach to education. Our band new, state-of-the-art site has been designed and built with education at the forefront and includes specialist teaching spaces and a whole school one to one iPad provision, as well a wide range of sports and extra-curricular provision. We are leaders in outdoor education with an outdoor classroom and onsite Bushcraft, the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme and Big Expeditions to wilderness locations such as Greenland, alongside a variety of other trips at home and abroad.
