L5 in Life in Modern Britain. This lesson looks at the role, responsibilities and the impact of the media. It also looks at a documentary on the creation of Sarah’s Law and how the media supported this. The lesson finishes with students considering if Sarah’s law was created with the media balancing it’s freedom and the rights of individuals. This would be a double lesson.

This builds on work we have done on Pressure Groups in the UK and the previous lesson which examined the rights legislation development in UK (students made a timeline from the textbook of the major legislation passed and court cases.

Updated for 2023-24. In this lesson students will explore the intricacies of employment law and how it applies to the everyday person in a variety of situations. They will also investigate how the Equality Act is applied in the workplace, by putting themselves in the position of an employer considering new candidates.
The lesson includes group tasks, literacy-based tasks, clip tasks, case studies and many other activities. Everything is editable and easy to just pick up and use.
