Students follow instructions to design a lunar theme park on squared paper. They then have to calculate different things to work out the parks overall profit and loss. Good to use over a sequence of lessons for number revision with calculators.

I find that the questions are best used as starters or plenaries to get pupils discussing whether the statement is always true, sometimes true or never true. Some do not have a definite answer and should encourage some debate!

Students have to answer general knowledge questions along the route based on the tube stations they land on. The powerpoint is a set of slides with the constructions drawn on.

This is a lesson used for an Ofsted visit looking specifically at the teaching of EAL groups. HMI document is the lesson plan. Scaffolded worksheets help students to work out where they can gain marks and the starter card sort activity helps students to differentiate between descriptions they can say (e.g. 'turn it') and the specific mathematical word they must write down to gain marks.
