Motivational Assembly

(37)
To challenge students to think about what might be holding them back in life...fear? laziness? low self esteem? disability? attitude? This assembly uses the comparison of a mountain to symbolise the challenges that face everyone. It shows how important it is to face our challenges and that success only comes with a positive attitude and hard work. This assembly includes a short clip from a motivational speaker called Nick Vujicic who was born with no arms and no legs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gc4HGQHgeFE (4 mins)

Assembly on self esteem

(24)
This assembly can be used / adapted for any age group and if you follow the script at a steady pace, should take 5 - 7 minutes. The quotes and images are there to stimulate students to think positively about themselves and not to compare themselves with others. I feel strongly that the message of this assembly is crucial for any young person in any school. It fits in with both R.E. and PSHE curriculum. I delivered this assembly today and I got very positive feedback from both students and staff.

Assembly on Worry

(7)
This assembly is designed to help students to deal with situations which might cause them to worry. Using quotes and images it teaches them that they can choose how to react to problems to help them avoid unnecessary stress. I’ve prepared a script which is linked by numbers to each slide on the powerpoint; it should take between 7 – 10 minutes. For lower school pupils I recommend that you start from slide 3. Feel free to suggest any other topics for me to cover!

New GCSE Christianity Beliefs Revision Guide AQA

(2)
This is a comprehensive revision guide for the new GCSE - Christian beliefs. Based on the AQA but can be adapted for any exam board. It also includes short knowledge questions and possible exam questions to help students revise. It is 10 sides of A4 but covers everything (hopefully). I've made it descriptive and analytical to help students prepare for the rigorous exam ahead!

AQA Spec B Religious Studies Revision Board Game

(10)
I have made this simple board game called 'Game of Religion&' with sets of questions (religious and general) for two AQA GCSE courses: Religious Philosophy and Ultimate Questions and Religion and Morality (I do not cover matters of life or death). This is designed to make revision fun! I recommend that you enlarge the board by 200% and photocopy it across two pieces of A3 white card. I backed the questions with either the religious or general knowledge symbol. Alternatively, you can simply print off the set of questions and hand them to your students to do a simple q & a revision.

Mindfulness Sessions for Year 7 - three practical sessions - mindful - relaxation - meditations

(0)
I have developed three one and half hours mindfulness sessions for year 7 students (I will upload more for year 8 and 9 also). I have delivered this for 4 years and it has been extremely successful. They are designed to improve students self esteem and help them if they are struggling to sleep at night. It is also designed to encourage gratitude so that they learn to focus on the positive. The slides include a variety of activities with script and advice along with suggestions for music etc. You will only need to add some mindful colouring pictures (but could ask them to doodle instead) and you will need a whiteboard with speakers. One activity suggests using some stones or other natural items (or cotton wool - but anything would do). The original sessions were created on Google slides but had to convert to powerpoint to upload.

Year 8 Mindfulness Sessions x 3 Mental Health & Wellbeing

(0)
This powerpoint is 45 slides of different mindfulness activities that have been developed by myself over 4 years. They are designed for year 8 students for a 1 to 1 1/2 hour session over 3 weeks. (It continues on from the set I have made for Year 7’s and is followed by another set for Year 9’s). Everything is set up for anyone to run this session (you will need to access youtube for some music and a clip but I have included details). The main focus for students is relaxation (breathing and listening) and utilising a distraction technique (happy place). It is also increases self esteem as well as compassion for others. I have also included other mindful activities (mindful craft ideas) which can be accessed by anyone. These sessions can be adapted to suit your own needs but provides many ideas and activities to equip students with tools to improve their own wellbeing.

Friendship Group Assembly

(5)
This assembly addresses the problems in friendship groups (KS3 and 4) and is designed to help pupils understand their own behaviour (using animal behaviour ‘top dog’ and ‘pecking order’ as a comparison). Pupils are encouraged to reflect on how they treat their friends and to question their use of Social Media (e.g. Facebook) This assembly also includes two 1 minute video clips (on youtube) and a Powerpoint with 6 slides (which is optional or you can insert photos / experiences from your own experiences of pets). Approx 10 mins.

Revision Game for AQA GCSE Religion and Morality

(2)
This is a revision game based on the tv game played on Richard and Judy called 'You say we pay'. It is simple - the keywords from the AQA Religion and Morality course are on this powerpoint (Life, death and drugs topic). One student sits in front of the screen. Others in the class have to describe the word behind them for the person to guess. Award points for each correct word or if the team make a mistake and repeat a word from the screen. They have just 60 seconds. I've just done this with my class and they loved it!
