This is from a series of posters I made for the revision of the characters in Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. They each display quotes and comments that would be useful to revise for the GCSE English Literature exam. This poster is of Malvolio. A5 prints make for really good individual student booklets, while producing A4 versions is ideal for general class use. If you’re wanting to display them, they look really good in A3. This is from a series of posters I made for revision of the characters in Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. They each display quotes and comments that would be useful to revise for the GCSE exam. This poster is of Justine Moritz. I print them in A4 for general classroom use, but A3 make for eye-catching displays, and A5 are useful to make up individual student revision booklets. Students can be asked to link each of the quotes or traits to a given theme, explaining why it is significant, or they can be encouraged to revise other characters and/or other texts by creating their own versions of this poster. You could also blank out parts of the poster and ask students to fill in the missing pieces. (I would do this by uploading the jpeg on to a Powerpoint slide and using the ‘shapes’ tool to cover up the parts you want them to figure out. Alternatively, do it the analogue way and use a photocopier and some white-out fluid). This is from a series of posters I made for revision of the characters in Frankenstein. They each display quotes that would be useful to revise for the GCSE English Literature exam. This poster is of Victor’s father, Alphonse Frankenstein. Printed in A4 they are ideal for regular classroom use, while A3 produces a good wall display. You could also create individual revision booklets by reproducing these posters in A5. The posters can be used in a number of different ways. I often ask students to link each of the quotes or comments to a theme and then to explain why that quote is significant. You could also blank out some of the text and ask students to fill in the blanks. The posters can also serve as inspiration for students to make their own, based on other characters and/or other texts. I created this for the revision of Frankenstein at GCSE level. This is a multiple round team quiz. It can be given to individuals but it works better with teams because it encourages them to discuss the myriad of potential answers. Each slide has the answers in its notes. Some rounds (such as the picture and music ones) have answers which are not so definitive. If a student gives a different answer and can justify why they have chosen it, allow them the point, as this is where the revision is happening. I tend to do a round and then ask them to swap papers for marking. This means you can keep a running total for each team and make it more competitive. For the music round, I access Youtube. If your school does not allow you access, I recommend downloading the tracks and making a playlist on your phone or laptop. The objects round is optional. Prior to the quiz lesson, you can set a homework task - students must choose an object that symbolises one of the characters and be prepared to give their reasons why. If they do the task well and there is a decent range of different characters, it will work as a round. Alternatively, they could be like my class where every single member 'forgot' to do their homework... I have a similar quiz for Romeo and Juliet, so please look at my other resources.

This poster is of Snowball, with the image in the background serving as a reminder of who he represents: Trotsky. I have included reminders of Orwell’s analogy in all of the posters in this series. These turn out well regardless of the size in which they are printed. A5 are useful as individual booklets for students, while A4 seem the best for general class use. If using for display, they look great in A3. Teachers have used these posters in a number of different ways. It can be really effective to ask students to make links between each trait or quote and a given theme of the novel. Explaining what is significant about the quotes and comments in the poster means they practise expanding on their answers and gain a deeper understanding of what the writer has intended.
