“A Trip through the Solar System” is an engaging digital project for students in upper elementary and middle school (4th-7th). Created in Google slides, this project can be easily posted on Google Classroom—perfect for distance learning! When they begin, students will read the following directions: Your Mission: 3-2-1 liftoff! Take an imaginary trip through the solar system (via research) and document information about the planets and other orbiting objects you encounter along the way. Click through the Research Choice Boards and record information about at least 4 planets (not including Earth) and 2 other objects found in space. To help with your research, there is a list of helpful websites provided. The Google slides are easy to navigate and include all necessary links and text boxes. Check out the PREVIEW to get a sneak peak of the choice boards and slides. Notes about this digital activity: *A link to the digital file will be provided. You will first be prompted to “Make a Copy.” *This activity/project may be posted on Google Classroom and was made with Google Slides. *When posting this assignment on Google Classroom, be sure to select “make a copy for each student,” unless you are making this a collaborative assignment. *Only the text box areas where students can type information are editable. Backgrounds and pictures are locked in place. The textboxes are already sized, inserted in appropriate places, and ready for students to type their information. *A clickable choice board is provided to give students independence and choice in their research. *Perfect activity for distance learning! No printing necessary! *A list of clickable/linked websites (suggestions for student research) are on one of the slides for students to access. The websites will open in a different tab, so students may easily return to the slides. *There is a text box on each slide for students to document the websites they used to find their information. This encourages students to start citing their sources and give the author(s) credit for the information (something they will be required to do as they get older, especially in junior high and high school). *Please only share this digital activity with your students.
