A unit of work based on the film Paddington by Heyday films. It includes grammar activities such as how to use inverted commas and how to use passive and active voice. The unit also includes modelled writing of a newspaper report alongside differentiated newspaper planning sheets. There is also a lesson on writing a review of the film. I used this with a Year 6 class as part of a two week unit on film using Paddington as a stimulus. It has excellent cross-curricular links to PSHE and Citizenship; lots of opportunity to discuss similarities between Paddington and refugees.

Including examples of writing for and against. Tried and tested for use over a period of three weeks of English lessons.

A bundle for a half term topic on Flashback narrative writing that I have used with a Year 6 class. The bundle includes flashback work based on short films from the Literacy shed: German in the woods, Replay and Mourning Dove. There is modelled writing, spoof assessments for grammar and hot seating opportunities. This unit of work has excellent cross-curricular links with topics on WW1 and WW11 These resources can be bought separately or together in this bundle at a cheaper price!

A stand alone hour lesson on adding three digit decimal numbers. Can be differentiated to 1 or 2 digit decimal numbers also. I used this with Year 6 children. The resource includes a starter activity and an adding decimals warm up activity (with correct answers hidden behind coloured blocks). There is then a model of how to record their results and a paired activity for the main teaching.
