How is the UK affected by coastal erosion?
This is a research based lesson where students must complete their own case studies for an area of the UK affected by coastal erosion. Group work activity and / or homework activity. Students can be asked to present their research to the class to include collaboration and confidence into their work tasks.

This is an assessment lesson to help students revise for the attached assessment based on coasts for KS3.
What is the land made of?
This lesson introduces students to the rock cycle and the characteristics of the main rock types. This allows students to understand why some rocks erode faster than others.
What is a coastline?
This lesson asks to students what coastline is and how different types of waves impact the coastline - constructive and destructive waves and beaches are explained to students here.
How does weather change the shape of the land?
This lesson looks at the difference between weathering and erosion and focuses on the different type of weathering. The lesson gives detail about mechanical weathering - freeze thaw action.
How do we measure development?
This lesson introduces students to development indicators with focus on HDI and its pros and cons. it interlinks math skills where students are asked to create radial graphs based on HDI of different countries (countries can be changed to suit your classroom location / nationalities).
