This is a full lesson resource on the Christian festival of advent. The lesson looks at the ways in which advent is celebrated both now and in the past and the significance of the time for Christians. The lesson includes an optional advent candle design task with a template provided. There is a differentiated story activity using either the Bible text or a simple version ideal for lower age or ability students. Pride Month assembly / form time tutorial which looks at the importance of being able to be our ‘true selves’ by listening to Phyllis Akua Opoku-Gyima, also known as Lady Phyll. Lady Phyll is a co-founder and executive director of UK Black Pride and talks about the challenges she faced growing up as well as the importance of being an ally for the rights of others, the lesson uses a clip about the F1 racer Lewis Hamilton to demonstrate this. The design of the resource is as a form time tutorial but it could easily be used as an assembly by replacing ‘discuss’ with ‘consider’. This resource uses the 2023 theme. We also have an alternative Pride Month tutorial and full 60 minute lesson looking at key terms and the origins of the celebration available here and here. ​ This is an easy to follow power point tutorial (no prior planning, printing or preparation required).
