I have been a teacher for over 20 years - all the stuff I upload has been tried and tested in my classroom. I don't mind a discussion on Twitter too where I also share new resources. I now have a personal website: https://andylutwyche.com/

Speed-Time Graphs Spiders

(22)
Three "spiders" containing increasingly difficult questions moving from just reading the graph through calculating distance travelled to calculating acceleration.
Surds Spiders

Surds Spiders

(12)
These spiders (there are seven of them in total) take you through simplifying, calculating, rationalising denominators, expanding brackets and rationalising "tough" surds.

GCSE Revision Pub Quiz - Higher and Foundation

(115)
This is a revision activity either to be done in small groups or individually. There are the following rounds: Number, Algebra, Shape and Space, Date Handling, Using and Applying. All have 10 questions worth one point each except the Using and Applying round where there are 5 questions worth 3 points each, where workings must be given.

Maths Revision: Quiz Lesson - powerpoint.

(9)
This powerpoint is for classes to do in teams. Each summer related question takes 30 seconds to answer (an alarm goes off and the link to the answer appears). There are 5 topics areas: Number, Algebra, Shape & Space, Data Handling, Pot Luck. Each topic has 5 questions worth a different amount of points based upon difficulty.
Manipulating Expressions and Formulae

Manipulating Expressions and Formulae

(2)
This is designed to get students to think about algebra and substitution as well as knowing properties of number. This is looking at what you can substitute into an expression or a formula (so that rearranging is involved) to produce a given property. This is intended to create discussion and each question has multiple answers, some of which could be generalised therefore creating extra challenge for those who require it.

Bidmas Spiders

I needed something for my top set Year 8 to get their teeth into regarding "order of operations" and since I'm clearly into spiders at the moment this was born. It asks student to place operations and brackets into calculations to make them equal a certain total. There are 4 that get increasingly difficult (no indices involved) and then a challenge (with indices involved). There will also be more than one way to answer some, but I have provided an answer for each.
Parallel and Perpendicular Lines Spiders

Parallel and Perpendicular Lines Spiders

(29)
With the new curriculum in mind I did this. Students must use their knowledge of parallel and perpendicular lines to fill in blanks but this could lead to discussions about different ways to write equations of lines etc. Errant negative signs on number 4 corrected (I hope).

Perimeter and Area Matching

This takes students through basic shapes (rectangles and triangles) to trapeziums and parallelograms and finally circles, including compound shapes. I use these as starters or plenaries but use them how you like.
Recognising Graphs

Recognising Graphs

(4)
A PowerPoint with three graphs drawn on each of 8 slides of increasing challenge, moving from linear through to quadratics, cubics, reciprocals and exponential graphs. On each slide there are equations to match to each graph plus extra equations so that it adds more challenge; there is a blank grid so that the equations that don’t match can be sketched.
Christmas Maths Advent Calendar

Christmas Maths Advent Calendar

(15)
This can be used either as a numeracy resource in registration or in maths classes. It's various maths questions linked to a number wall (it's an advent calendar for crying out loud!). It covers lots of different topics in number, algebra, shape & space and data and gets progressively more difficult as you go on. The date should now update automatically! Typos corrected too.
Exploding Surds

Exploding Surds

(4)
Surds practice from basic simplifying to expanding brackets to rationalising denominators. This encourages workings and the students to work backwards (what's the question given this answer?) so should also encourage discussion in class.
Rounding Spiders

Rounding Spiders

(13)
A comment from my trainee teacher made me think that rounding to decimal places and significant figures needed an activity, so I came up with this. It should get students thinking and should open up discussion on rounding, which can be a little "dry" but essential to get to grips with. Typo corrected!

March 2023 Codebreaker Bundle

Around 25 codebreakers (answer the questions, reveal the punchline to a joke) in this bundle. There are a number aimed at covering parts of the AQA Further Maths Level 2 Certificate but also ones covering topics on the GCSE curriculum too. Each of these is individually available for free but if you want all of them they are available here.
