I have introduced this across two schools in the past, including one outside of my trust. The document is editable for leaders to amend priorities and add names of teachers. A full set of resources to deliver a half term scheme of work on the History of Fun. This is a great way to get pupils thinking about the development of themes over time. It is in chronological order and includes lessons on: - First humans - Egyptians - Greeks - Romans - Medieval - Tudors - Victorians - 20th century There is also an assessment with lessons that can be used summatively. NOTE - Some lessons (e.g. Romans and Egyptians) are sold separately by me. I put these all together with the other lessons due to a number of requests from people who wanted to buy the whole unit.

An assembly about prayer and how different beliefs practice it. I have taken the angle of discussing similarities and differences and introduced the idea of atheist prayer (a thunk). There is a link to a clip from a Christian discussing why prayer is important to them. Notes and knowledge are included in the notes section of the slides. This could also be used as a presentation in a lesson.

Though this is designed for History, it is adaptable for any KS4 and 5 subject. I found parents were really positive to have an A5 sheet to take away with key dates of the exams, links to revision websites/text and other information such as the specification.

Get pupils to try and suggest what may be happening in the picture (e.g. The White Cliffs of Dover suggests it’s in Britain etc) Main Tasks: Quick question video clip in which pupils watch the film and write down some basic answers. This is used to set the scene. Group Work: Get pupils into groups of 3. Prior to the lesson stick on one side of sugar/A3 paper the resources I have included (sources for invasion). Also pupils should read the 'Instruction sheet legionnaire' to gain an understanding of the task. Then give the pupils 15 minutes to plan. After this use the PP to bring up the scenario slides which may put a spanner in their planning. I do this every 5 minutes. Plenary/Consolidation: Pupils are to use the sentence starters to write an extended piece of writing about the invasion of Britain. Also, use the link to the BBC to see how accurate the pupils were in their exercises. ** The 'I believe' statement cards were used to try and get some of the quieter pupils to explain their thoughts orally.

A lesson that looks at significance and, in particular, individuals who are deemed important. Pupils watch the first 10 minutes of the BBC YouTube documentary on Brunel (Greatest Britons) and then debate using resources why he is deemed significant. They rate him according to criteria and summarize their thoughts.

An assembly (presentation) about remembering past wars and the military. I have focused on the effects of war on the mental health of the soldiers. It includes: - Notes on each slide: background to wars, the environment and working with other people - A link to a clip (not YouTube) on the mental health of soldiers (on the final note slide)

An excellent way for pupils to capture how well they have done each time they try a source question. This has been made for the Impact of War on Britain GCSE History unit but I have left it adaptable so teachers can use it with any topic or any subject KS4 or 5. - Stick it on the inside of a pupils book at the beginning of the unit - Each time they do an exam question get them to write their mark and the date they did it on the grid - Excellent way to either show progress or spot were pupils are having difficulties with certain types of exam questions so you can focus their revision
