House insulation project
flaffeyflaffey

House insulation project

(4)
Mini-project that aims to consolidate knowledge from P.1.1.1 to P1.1.4 (convection, conduction, heat transfer, heating and insulation). Students to design and make their own model of an insulated house. Can get students to bring their own materials or provide them (e.g. cardboard boxes, tinfoil etc.) Takes 2 to 3 lessons. Winner decided by setting up a thermometer in the house and using a heat source, a light bulb that gives off a lot of heat works best, and then seeing which house reaches the highest internal temperature.
