Revision activity for the CB3 unit in the new Edexcel Combined Science GCSE (9-1). The idea of the activity is that they need to get all the questions answered on their sheet working cooperatively with the rest of class, with each person only being able to contribute one answer to each worksheet. I also allowed them to ask me to answer one question but could also be done independently amongst the students.

CB9a lesson from the new Edexcel combined Science GCSE (9-1) all about ecosystems. The lesson includes resources organisms need to live, ecosystems, populations, communities, habitats, interdependent relationships, food webs, sampling and abundance.

Science exam technique lesson focusing on recognising command words and how to answer 6 mark questions. Some tasks are generic and some have specific questions to the Edexcel combined science CP6 Radioactivity topic (was done alongside DIRT for the end of unit test)- but could easily be adapted for another topic or just done as is as revision.

Series of lessons looking at ‘The Plastic Problem’. Lesson 1- looking at what plastic is, the different types of plastic and how to identify plastic objects. Lesson 2- looking at what the issues with using plastics are, plastic in the ocean and how long items take to decompose. Lesson 3- graph drawing lesson with different sets of data (differentiated by level). Lesson 4- science in the news lesson looking at different articles to do with the plastic project and analysing/summarising them. Lesson 5- looking at the solutions for the plastic problem (the four R’s).

NEW ROUNDS ADDED FOR 2018 AND MORE TO BE ADDED SOON End of Year quiz for use within Science lessons towards the end of term. There are 17 Quiz rounds to choose from (I usually have the folder open on the board and let one team at a time choose which round we do). There are several science based rounds (including CB1-6 specific questions from the Edexcel combined science GCSE that I’m sure fits with other schemes), as well as some generic rounds.

CB4a lesson from the new Edexcel Science GCSE, looking at evidence for human evolution. CB1e lesson from the new Edexcel Science GCSE looking at enzymes and nutrition. The lesson includes a recap quiz all about cells, what enzymes are, examples of what enzymes break down, what they are broken down in to, specific enzymes and their roles and thinking about why digestive enzymes are so important for life.

CB9b lesson from the new Edexcel combined Science GCSE (9-1) all about abiotic factors and communities. Lesson includes what affects where organisms can live, what abiotic factors are, distribution of organisms, investigation into woodlice and abiotic factors, adaptations of organisms, how water/temp/light affect distribution and pollution. A second lesson focusing on the CB9b core practical is also included.

CB7b lesson from the new Edexcel Science GCSE (9-1) all about hormonal control of metabolic rate. The lesson includes what metabolic rate is, the effects of thyroxine, negative feedback & thyroxine, adrenalin and the fight or flight response.

SB3f lesson from the new Edexcel Biology GCSE looking at the work of Gregor Mendel including what he did, the conclusions he drew and the response at the time. One of the tasks (about 10 minutes of the lesson) involves the use of the Pearson ActiveTeach worksheets, but could easily be replaced by other worksheets/tasks

Write up booklet intended for use with the CB3 core practical about DNA extraction from the new Edexcel Science GCSE (9-1) Includes the method, simple write up questions, evaluation questions and exam style questions about DNA and the practical. Intended to be printed on A3 paper, two sheets per page and then folded in half (so that the blank page becomes the back page, perfect for sticking into exercise books).

SB5h lesson from the new Edexcel Biology GCSE (9-1) all about plant diseases. The lesson includes plant disease symptoms, distribution analysis and diagnosis testing.
