This fun activity is a great review or fun treat for any subject, at any level. Students answer questions to race around the track trying to complete 3 laps before the other teams. The game has been prepared in 2 different formats. The 20 questions version is played with 20 questions, which are prepared with answers on the PPT. Players / Teams choose a color, or you can use the randomized team color picker. Players / Teams choose a color and number light which corresponds to a question. Questions that have been chosen turn white and cannot be clicked again. The other format is a standalone version of the game where the questions can be prepared away from the PPT or taken from a workbook etc. The game is played in the same way except players remain on the main track screen while the questions are asked. As Players / Teams get the questions correct they click on their color car and it moves along the track. Each lap is marked off in the center display so it’s easy for teams to keep track of their progress. It’s a simple concept, but a fun and engaging way to present, review or practice any teaching point.

The activity has been prepared to be played to practice present perfect question construction but it is easily editable and can be played to practice any topic and it has full audio and visual feedback. This activity is perfect to use in ONLINE classes and is a great way to engage students and increase student speaking time in those classes where students are reluctant to speak up. Easily adaptable for lessons and students of all ages and abilities there are 3 different configurations so the game doesn’t become predictable for students, who love the ‘class versus the teacher’ aspect of the game! Editing the activity is as simple as typing in the expressions / structures you wish to practice. Students discuss between themselves and choose a square. One click on the square highlights that text and then students have a chance to discuss their answer. After students / groups have given their answers another click drops the bomb and students find out if they have hit a battleship or not. Once a whole battleship has been revealed you can click it to sink it. The game is over when all the battleships have been revealed.
