Resource aimed at the AQA GCSE Psychology specification. This resource include two student responses to the question “Outline and evaluate Gibson’s direct theory of perception (9 marks)” with a simplified mark scheme for students to use. The “suggested content” section of the mark scheme is blank for students to use their notes to complete. Worked well as a pre-assessment lesson to introduce essay skills.

Resource appropriate for the AQA GCSE Psychology specification. This is a flipped learning activity/homework for students to complete at home/independently. Resource explains the aims of cognitive neuroscience including examples from individuals with mental health disorders, stroke and neurological damage. A concise explanation and evaluation of each scanning technique is also included.

Suitable as an introductory lesson to the perception topic of the new AQA GCSE. The PowerPoint goes through the difference between sensation and perception and includes activities such as fill in the blanks, AfL whiteboard tasks and a practical activity to demonstrate how once sense influences the perception of another.

Powerpoint activity tackling the discussion of gender bias. Students were set a preparatory task the lesson before to make notes on the different types of gender bias. Therefore this lesson focuses on consolidating this knowledge and the discussion of the debate. The final activity guides students through planning a 16 mark response to this question.

Work booklet given to students to complete independently. Makes an excellent summer project or revision resource. Students had some knowledge of the issues and debates content but had not covered it in any great depth. This booklet therefore contains enough detail for them to have a good understanding of the content but also leaves enough gaps for the students to use their existing knowledge and additional research skills to complete. Knowledge review questions are included at the end of every sub topic. As always, I recommend students use the Tutor2u and Simply Psychology sites as a point of reference. Whole lesson (power point and activity worksheet) exploring the contribution of Wundt to the development of Psychology and Psychology as a science. Lesson includes outline and evaluation of both Wundt and Psychology as a Science as well as exam practice, model answers and reference to exam mark schemes.

Lesson detailing localization of brain function. The lesson introduces the basics of the brain, hemispheres etc then guides students through a student led carousel before bringing the class back together to evaluate. Includes mini plenaries to assess ongoing understanding and mini practical.

Lesson explaining split brain research including Sperry. Includes note to take, independent evaluation activities and 3 possible essays for students to plan individually in groups or as a class.

Introduction to gender lesson covering the difference between sex and gender and sex role stereotypes. Activities include engaging and interesting starter to encourage children to challenge their own gender stereotype, discussion of equality in the media, sports and health care with reference to supporting research. Mini whiteboard plenary to assess knowledge.

Lesson covering the outline of the neurochemical explanation of addiction (desensitisation hypothesis and nicotine regulation model). Includes flipped learning activity (to be given the lesson before), group activity, class activity, information slide for notes, application to scenarios and whiteboard knowledge reviews with answers.

Whole lesson looking at discussion of the neurochemical explanation (AO1/2 in separate lesson). Includes pupil led recap of AO1 content and opportunities for live class modelling, group evaluation and peer teaching. Can be made easier by providing students with a copy of the textbook evaluation for them to sue to form a burger evaluation paragraph rather than being entirely student led.

A booklet aimed at Y11 but appropriate to students in any key stage that discusses what makes effective revision and why. (I have also used this with Y12 and Y13) Students are guided through a process of organising and prioritising their subjects/topics before they are introduced to the strategies that are most effective methods of revision and why (research supported) It ends with a copy of the GCSE Edexcel Psychology specification for students to use to RAG rate and create their priority list. This could quite easily be adapted for any specification of any subject.

Lesson covering Gregory's theory of illusions and applying knowledge to Ponzo and Hering illusions. Lesson includes differentiated application of knowledge to relevant exam questions and helpful and handy hints on how to remember Gregory's theory. Includes whole class live writing activity with model answers.

Lesson explaining stereopsis with a mini practical for the students to carry out to experience stereopsis. Activities looking at different types of illusions and examples of these illusions, how Gestalt explains illusions and evaluation of Gestalt. Includes analysis of scenario, gap fills and a mini practical

Two lessons worth of content covering AO1, AO2 and AO3 content for the Sapir Whorf hypothesis including reference to variation in recall of events and recognition of colour (separate yet linked spec point). Includes thought provoking starter activity, relevant and facilitating videos and differentiated AO3 activites.
