What was discovered when the death camps were liberated? This resource contains: 1x PowerPoint 1x Source Information Sheet 1x Video This lesson examines what the soldiers discovered when they liberated the death camps. Students first reflect on the impact seeing horrendous sights would have on the soldiers as they were not expecting to see what they did. Students then look at sources to see what we can learn about how the Jews were treated in the camps and then question the reliability of the sources. Finally, students reflect on what they have learnt by creating a newsreel about what was discovered in the death camps. This lesson is hard hitting, when I taught it a number of students cried but were able to discuss the importance of learning about the Holocaust more after this lesson.

This revision resource consists of six place-mats with all the key information needed for an exam in international relations. These were created for the Cambridge IGCSE however they are of use to any exam board. The topics covered are: Were the Peace Treaties of 1919-23 fair? To what extent was the League of Nations a success? Why had international peace collapsed by 1939? Who was to blame for the Cold War? How secure was the USSR's control over eastern Europe, 1948-89? Homer’s Odyssey Revision: 41 Character Cards (description and key words) This resource contains: 41x character revision cards with a character description and keywords to describe their character. This is an excellent and fun game about (all) the characters in Homer’s Odysseus which can be used for revision purposes. Students split the cards in half and describe the character using the description of keywords. The other person in the pair must guess what character they are describing. This not only reflects on the characters of Homer’s Odyssey but also links to key themes and books studied.

Students then use the information cards to complete their worksheet on the Roman state. Finally a homework task is set to reinforce what the students have learnt in this lesson and provide an ancient Historian’s view which is needed for the essay questions in the exam. Homer’s Odyssey – Book XII: Scylla and Charybdis (characters & themes) This resource contains: 1x PowerPoint Presentation 1x Characters & Themes Worksheet This lesson examines the characters and key themes in Book XII (Scylla and Charybdis) of Homer’s Odyssey. The students first reflect on what key themes are shown in Book XII and then examine how they are developed by Odysseus’ actions. Students finally examine the leadership qualities of Odysseus and question whether or not he is to blame for the death of his crew.

IGCSE Russia 1905-1941 Revision Book This resource contains 37 revision pages which cover the following four key questions: Why did the Tsarist regime collapse in 1917? How did the Bolsheviks gain and hold onto power? How did Stalin gain and hold onto power? What was the impact of Stalin’s economic policies? A list of 4, 6 and 10 mark questions. Each event has their own revision page whilst all key question have an end of topic summary. The pages are filled with only the key information and is an excellent form of revision. When teaching I often give the students the relevant sheet as a summary at the end of the lesson to aid with their revision. This also covers many of the key topics for the Russia topic in the new AQA 9-1 GCSE.

This consists of 9 lessons covering Russian History for the new GCSE AQA syllabus from Stalin gaining and consolidating power, his economic reforms and their impact and the Great Patriotic War. I have used the Walsh Textbook for certain parts if the lessons uses the textbook. This pack consists of PowerPoints and worksheets for each of the lessons. A good textbook is essential for these lessons.

This download consists of all the resources for a Year 10 Careers Day that I have created called 'Year 10 - Futures Day'. It consists of the following: 1) Creating a careers board game - (using the two help sheets for additional information) 2) C.V workshop which teaches students how to create a good C.V 3) Session where students reflect on their skills and begin to research careers that they might be interested in. 4) Evaluation - play board games and then evaluate the day whilst playing the board games that they have created.

This resource is an overview of the key events of the 20th century. Rather than going through events randomly we look at what Henry Patch, the last surviving tommy of WW1 who passed away in 2009 , and think what events would he have looked back on and thought 'wow that was important'. It also has a great bingo game linked to the song 'we didn't start the fire'.

Homer’s Odyssey – Book IX: The Cyclopes (key events) This resource contains: 1x PowerPoint Presentation 1x Key Events worksheet 1x Plot, Language & Theme Homework Questions This lesson introduces students to Book IX (The Cyclopes) of Homer’s Odyssey first by questioning why Homer is going to spend the next four Books recalling Odysseus’ travels therefore prolonging his return home.
