A well presented lesson on the 1066 Battle of Hastings in the run up to the penultimate lesson of the Battle of Hastings created for KS3 history students on Microsoft Powerpoint A little about the lesson Students explore the Battle of Hastings between two of the contenders Harold Godwinson and Duke William of Normandy. Students uncover the sequence of events during the battle, they encounter a codebreaker task and look at some of the imagery of the Bayeux tapestry. Students consider advantages and disadvantages of each army throughout the lesson. Students then apply their learning to a written exam technique task. Students are guided into answering an exam style question (AQA 8 mark question) with scaffolded sentence and a mark scheme for self assessment to help them begin to understand the requirements for GCSE style questions from an early stage. This can easily be tweaked, however, to tailor the resource to your exam board. Whats included? A whole 1 hour lesson powerpoint is included (there are teacher notes also under some slides). Student worksheets/resources are included in hidden slides in the relevant points of the presentation and also as an additional Powerpoint for ease of printing. This lesson has been created for KS3 secondary history students and covers the End of WW1. This lesson has been created on Microsoft Powerpoint and has an optional accompanying Word Document for students to record their answers on. Additional resources have been created on Powerpoint and Teacher Notes & Answers have been added to the notes section of each relevant slide on the Powerpoint. This resource is a group activity. Students are engaged in a relay race against time and other groups to retrieve the information as to how and why the First World War ended in 1918. Students will identify events and turning points that resulted in victory for for the allies and more importantly, why Germany lost the war. This lesson includes exam technique (AQA 4 mark question) to consolidate learning and an optional 8 mark question which students can complete for homework. This lesson details the progression from Motte and Bailey Castles to Stone Keep Castles in Medieval Britain. The lesson contains a 4 mark describe question to reflect on prior learning. The content covers the structure and features of stone keep castle and then looks further (through means of a carousel activity) advantages and disadvantages of stone keep castles. This would lead well to insert a Paper 1 ‘Interpretations Q’ for the new Spec AQA paper.

Included within this resource is 2x consecutive lessons looking at recruitment and propaganda aimed at KS3 students studying World War one. The content however is good for students studying this topic at GCSE. Source analysis of recruitment posters, extended writing practice and exam style questions make up the tasks in this pack. Resources are included in hidden slides at the end of the ppt as well as in separate documents.

This resource activity contains 2x all about me bunting and flag templates in PDF format for primary students to complete with details about themselves and to colour in and develop on the design to show their individual personalities. A perfect activity for back to school in class or as a set piece for homework. It would make a lovely display or a timecapsule piece for students to look back on at the end of their primary school career. The individual bunting triangles could be used to make a hanging display in your classroom (there is a flap across the top to fold over a string) and the flag design would make a lovely wall display. The resource is aimed at primary aged students - mainly upper KS2 students however it could be used with lower KS2 classes with a little more teacher guidance. This has been created as an independent student activity but it could equally work as a paired discussion activity with students interviewing one another and completing the flag on their peers behalf. This lesson has been created for KS3 students and covers the transatlantic triangular trade route for the topic of Slavery. The purpose of the lesson is for students to learn who was involved in slavery transactions, and how it was set up to work. Student are then to begin to consider why it was possible for this to work the way in which it did. Who were the enablers? The lesson offers an opportunity for fun paired work when exploring the transatlantic trade triangle. Individual tasks include exam technique in the format of a 4 mark ‘describe’ question in addition to other tasks. All accompanying resources are included in Microsoft PowerPoint format and suggested learning outcomes provided with space for you to add your own accompanying grades. Additionally, I have provided instructions and advice in the format of ‘Teacher notes’ underneath each slide, to view these you need to come out of full screen mode. This lesson introduces students to the idea of the stock market and how it works -initially through a brief video and followed by a game students can play independently/in pairs or in groups/ were students can experience the stock market. Speculation on the stock market is a really difficult concept for students to understand.
