EDEXCEL BTEC Eng Level1 Unit 2 Paperwork example

(1)
This accompanies the resources for unit7 - making a n electronic metronome. In this unit, the focus is on metalwork - making an aluminum case from engineering drawings, correct use of tools, marking out and manufacturing precision
servo motor controlled animatron

servo motor controlled animatron

(2)
This is a subset of materials available for a 14 hour year 9 course, where students use a servo motor controlled initially by a 555 timer, to mechanise an animatron (PIC based control is designed as a follow on). Course is designed to teach concepts of 555 timing leading onto pulse width modulation as a higher level concept. Circut wizard files are provided for circuits and PCB's (file extension needs changing from .txt to .cwz)

low cost KS3 line following robot

focus is on introducing key concepts for GCSE Electronic Products in a fun way. Circuit is two LDR based transistor circuits controlling two independent motors. Students work in teams to build (primarily to keep costs down but to also make planning more interesting). . The chassis is very basic because of my workshop setup, but development in this area could also form a strong part. More resources are available on request (this is a subset)

design ideas for GCSE Electronic products

FIrstly just one ppt showing some things that students may wish to consider fif they have chosen an alarm project for year 11 controlled assessment if following AQA or EDEXCEL. This is useful for individual students who need a bit of help in getting going rather than for a full class (why not email it to them as PDF?). Others will follow for different topics

power supplies for electronic products

(0)
a simple discussion based ppt to get students thinking about why they have chosen the power supply that they have and think about if it is really the best choice for their project. Tries to get them thinking about core spec points such as sustainability.
Electronics Keyword Ceiling Posters
nw5298nw5298

Electronics Keyword Ceiling Posters

(2)
A series of posters containing keyword definitions for electronics, that should be coloured in by students, laminated and then hung from the workshop ceiling. These have proved useful to have as a permanent fixture for both KS3 and KS4 - particularly when it comes to asking plenary questions at the end of practical time
GCSE Electronic Products Controlled Assessment

GCSE Electronic Products Controlled Assessment

(4)
This is what I am currently using for AQA GCSE Electronic Products. The templates seem to work quite well and have been refined after the first submission May 2011. I have also added a version for EDEXCEL GCSE Electronic Products Also included is an example of some completed sheets and stickers for use with Avery 7159 stickers for quick feedback if commonly found student issues during assessment
Electronic Xylophone project

Electronic Xylophone project

(2)
This project is concerned with developing team working and engineering skills. The project is usable for many different learning abilities and curriculum needs. The project includes, casting, lathe work, tapping, electronic construction and PIC programming but each of these can switched in or out to suit individual needs. Circuit wizard file is for version 2.0 and includes a flowchart & BASIC file for PIC programming and full system simulation model. . Demo videos for using lathes é sand casting have also been produced 2d designer files need extension changing from .txt to .dtd

Edexcel BTEC Level 1: Unit 1 Paperwork Example

This unit is common to Level1 & Level 2 BTec although, I have dumbed this down so that it applies more to level 1. I have put a lot of resources for this on our VLE (moodle) . I can't post these here due to filetype restrictions, but if you would like access to them, email me at t9.electronics@gmail.com. Also included are some very short safety video clips taken from you tube to start off discussions with, plus some jpg images.
Unit3: Principles of Engineering

Unit3: Principles of Engineering

(0)
This sets out a project for unit 3 (Edexcel) - principles of engineering in the form of a multi-tool project giving a structure for the module and some examples of previous students work

year 9 555 monostable/astable project

(3)
A year 9 project designed to last for 30 hours. Introduces breadboarding, and PCB design as well as package design. Contains SOW, A3 project booklet and some supporting teaching reources (not all) Circuit wizard files to accompany this project are available on request

Theory for GCSE electronics & electronic products focusing on comparators and inverting amplifiers. A more detailed discussion on op amps is available but this is not needed at GCSE

what am i? (a test of electronics knowledge)

(3)
a simple formatted quiz that can easily be expanded. Ideal as a starter or as part of general revision. Differentiated so that all will score something and boost confidence whilst higher ability can still shine through
digital thermometer project
nw5298nw5298

digital thermometer project

(1)
A year 10+ project that was designed to show what is required of a year 11 completed project. I have also added a new circuitwizard file that shows how the design can be broken up into three PCBs (2 x 7 seg display/4026 + a PIC PCB). This allows 4026 testing using a student built astable on breadboard and student development of a PIC PCB I have also included a filed called 'thermometer design tasks.txt'. This is a circuit wizard2.0 file (change extension to .cwz). This goes through the process of making up the circuit diagram, flowchart and PCB
Year 8 Picaxe/GENIE Cyberpet project
nw5298nw5298

Year 8 Picaxe/GENIE Cyberpet project

(11)
Can also be used for higher years or G&T year 7. Goes the process of breaking a problem down into sequential steps by means of flowcharts and programming it into a PIC. Example BASIC file for PICAXE is enclosed (cyberpet1txt). Can also be programmed as a flowchart. Recommended: use a GENIE C-08 PIC and program from circuitwizard v2.0. Circuitwizard PCB image for simulation included. The scheme of work refers to a custom designed PCB. I can sent the artwork for this on request - however the cyberpet project kits contain a pre-made PCB which is cost effective when bought in bulk (> 10).
Developing a Counting Circuit

Developing a Counting Circuit

(2)
Looks at the design considerations and processes in developing a counter circuit. Based around the 4026, this ppt goes into simulation and breadboarding. A circuit wizard 2.0 file is also included for simulation and PCB production
