Excellent group activity to use after teaching about different forms of renewable energy. The original resources are from Practical Action website (thank you). I used this with 2 different Yr 7 classes (high and low ability) and both loved it and very engaged. How to run activity: Each group needs I community card, a set of renewable energy cards, a map and a worksheet. They then need to decide which renewable energy would be suitable for each of their villages. I get groups to present their ideas to rest of class and we then peer assess each others choices.

A4 sheet covering Energy types, transfers, fuels, fossil fuel formation, photosynthesis, production of electricity renewable energy and climate change - used as revision tool before unit test. Now including answer sheet.

I've adapted a sheet I found on TES (Thank you!) to add more assessment opportunities - I used this at the start of a lesson revising photosynthesis - students filled only what they were sure of at beginning of lesson then I went through lesson and then they want back to sheet and completed the rest of it.

I stick these cards on all my students books - this allows me to easily get all the students into two sorts of groups: ability groups via animal (squid = high, crab = mid, starfish = low) and into mixed ability groups using the parts of an atom. I have then stuck big pictures of each grouping round room so that when I ask students to get into groups they know exactly where to go. I have also stuck the animals onto my desk so help with giving out differentiated worksheets - each student picks up sheet next to their animal.

This was done over two lessons - the first lesson was spent planning the investigation and naming the variables - see differentiated planning sheet - my pupils are all grouped according to ability (they had to come up with a method of measuring the energy content of a bit of food in groups) I then showed them the experimental set up so that the next lesson they could come in and start working straight away. A third lesson was spent writing up and evaluating - high ability group had to write up independently - low ability were given lots of the resources attached.

Introduces idea of photosynthesis and leads through where all the raw products for photosynthesis come from and how the plant is adapted to get those resources

These are resources I put together for a Separating Mixtures sow - it covers atoms, elements and compounds too as an introduction to what a mixture is. Includes lots of opportunity for assessment and practical activities.

These were revision aids produced for our Yr 8 Chemical Models unit that covers Elements, Mixtures and Compounds, Metal reactions, displacement reactions and corrosion

PowerPoint and starter for a KS3 Biology lesson on adaption and food chains. This was used for a double lesson (2hrs) for Yr 7's - introduces idea of adaptation and recaps food chains from KS2. Activities included. Worksheet used with low ability students as a starter

Resource collect to help students create a recycling campaign to encourage staff and students to be responsible with the resources they use. This was run as a 2hr activity for a Yr 7 science lesson to encourage group work and creative thinking. It worked extremely well with some excellent presentations taking place at the end of the second lesson. The planning sheet was blown up to A3. Ppt covering how the growth of microbes can be prevented: the difference between disinfectants & antiseptics and practical using different strengths of disinfectant to see effect on growth of bacteria on agar plates.

I used this ppt for the first lesson with my Yr 7 to get them thinking about rules in the lab. I printed off the second slide and laminated it and gave it to pairs of students with a whiteboard pen and asked them to circle any dangerous situations - we then used what they came up with to draw up our own class list of safety rules

This was used as an introductory lesson to 'Microbes and Disease'. Has links to videos and clips to liven it up - I got students to draw a picture for each time period on the comic strip to show what people thought about transmission of diseases - they loved it - very fun lesson

Ppt and activities to help students the importance of evaluating scientific evidence using the MMR studies of Dr Wakefield and Honda. Lots of opportunity for assessment, group work etc. Some resources have been adapted from Upd8 - the news story used in the starter activity is differentiated for lower/higher ability students - this lesson kept a very difficult yr 10 all on task!
