Critical reasoning 8. Inference and deduction 9. Visualisation 10. Summarising information 11. Cause and effect 12. Types of language Lessons all follow the same structure: • Learning objective/ outcome • Starter activity • Five minutes to change books etc • 20 minutes silent independent reading • Teacher questioning/review • Task linked to LO (20 mins) • Plenary Use of literacy centre managers: • General support and admin during the lesson • Withdrawal of identified students for 1:1 reading Each lesson has a student help sheet. Each student has their own resource booklet.

A lesson of games/activities using Kagan/collaborative learning to teach students to start sentences in different ways, add punctuation and proof-read/edit errors.
