Reggae Music - Three Little Birds
A set of resources to introduce students to Reggae music and perfect a performance of ‘Three Little Birds’. All band parts are provided with and without notes as well as Sibelius files of the various parts which can be easily adapted.
Powerpoints for 3 lessons are included with differentiated tasks but lessons can be extended depending on the skills of the performers.
Classical Music Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries Performance and Composition
A series of 3 lessons which use the elements from Wagner’s Ride of the Valkyries and other film music motifs that he has inspires as a stimulus for a composition task (original music also provided).
All instrumental parts and composition tasks are differentiated.
PowerPoints for the lessons are available with differentiated and push your thinking tasks.
Music Composition - Developing Harmony
Differentiated resources which aid students in developing the harmony of an original idea. This was originally used over 3 lessons with a sixth form class but could also be used with GCSE students.
Students must firstly define harmonic development methods (definitions provided). They must then identify how this looks by using musical examples.
The gold task then asks students to apply at least one method to their own composition.
All worksheets are in word so they can be further adapted in order to differentiate for your students.

AQA GCSE Music Area of Study Revision
A collection of resources for each area of study to prepare students for the AQA Music GCSE listening examination. Each area of study has an A3 sheet with all terms and definitions. There is also a pp detailing each key word, examples of them and the style of music this is most commonly found in.
There is an extra activity for texture which includes a card match and there are multiple examples of scores and recordings to listen to with regards to texture.
There are currently 3 areas of study in this bundle with the next 2 to be added in a similar style shortly.
GCSE Music - Rhythm
Resources used to introduce rhythm to GCSE students (could be used with year 9 key stage 3).
This includes performance, composition and listening all based around rhythm skills only - with a short introduction to structure and texture. This can then be extended to look at melody.
All resources are differentiated with set tasks for different levels of students and begins with writing rhythms, developing them using specific development methods, performing a rhythmic piece as an ensemble and then composing a similar piece in groups.
Homework individual composition is also attached as well as a feedback lesson.
GCSE Music Pop Music Composition
A introductory unit with differentiated powerpoint and resources to support students in composing a pop song chorus or verse using music technology. This is a series of lessons (minimum 3 to complete effectively).
Students are taken through a chord sequence, bass line, drum kit part and vocal melody all with differentiated tasks.
There is also a composition guide with step by step instructions so students can complete the tasks at their own rate.
A lot of push your thinking ideas are included which would allow students to achieve higher grades.

A full scheme of learning focusing on the Eduqas GCSE Music Chamber Music strand. This scheme of learning has differentiated tasks and worksheets throughout as well as success criteria for all homework. All resources are attached.
It combines theoretical knowledge with composition ideas and listening tasks.
Wicked Defying Gravity set work revision summary and questions Edexcel GCSE Music
A document with a summary of the Wicked - Defying Gravity set work on just over 2 sides of A4 with the main features students need to know for the exam (this is in prose). There are 20 differentiated questions where answers can be found in the text. Lower grade questions ask students to recall musical facts. Higher grade questions require students to analyse and evaluate the musical facts in order to answer questions on context as well (in preparation for AO4 on the essay).
Ideal for revision lesson, homework or a cover lesson. Answers are provided.
Wicked Question 9 examples Edexcel GCSE Music
A resource which compares the set work of Wicked to 2 other pieces in preparation for the essay question (question 9). The scores for the unfamiliar pieces are attached. The links to audio are on the pp along with ideas and plans for each of the 2 questions. This could take 2 lessons (along with writing the essays) or be the preparation for an assessment or homework.
There is differentiated success criteria which shows students how to access higher bands.
Edexcel GCSE Music AO4 Fusion revision posters - Afro Celt and Samba
Revision poster for students based on the fusion set works for the Edexcel Music GCSE: Afro Celt and Samba em Preludio.
Each poster summarises the key features of melody, instrumentation, structure, texture, harmony/tonality and rhythm and tempo. As well as key features there are also links to context and bar numbers with evidence.
These are ideal for students to use for revision.
Bach Badinerie Eduqas set work section B analysis
A complete analysis of the Section B from Bach’s Badinerie set work from Eduqas GCSE Music. This is at least 3 full lessons with differentiated tasks and worksheets which ensures students annotate their scores correctly. There is also a summary lesson to test their learning at the end of the analysis and performance.
Performance parts that have been used are readily available by the examination board.

There are also 3 listening questions with answers with you tube links on the pp. One of these is based on the longer answer format and firstly ask students to make notes on each section (a hint sheet is available) and then put this into continuous prose to be marked according to a SAMS mark scheme.
Differentiated tasks are including for all stages of the lesson.
