This maths resource relates to place value: tens and ones and is ideal for whole class and small group settings. Use as a lesson starter, plenary or for a practical lesson on tens and ones. Aimed at: Keystage 1 It contains resources to enable the educator carry out activities to reinforce children’s learning of place value. I have suggested 7 activities in the Teacher’s Note. You can adapt to suit the abilities of your students. The ultimate learning objective is for the students to understand the importance of place value relating to 2-digit numbers. This resource relates to euros and cents money - giving change. There are 50 task cards/activities. Content: 50 numbered Task cards Answer Key Recording Sheet Money Reference Sheet There are two task cards to a page. The task is in two parts: • First students add up the coins/money in the first column and write the price of the item. • The middle column shows the money used to pay for the item. • Students work out the change using whichever method they are comfortable with and then write the change given in the last column. The recording sheet can be used to write the date each card was completed. Great for early finishers and/or you want to review money with your students. Aimed at: Reception/Year 1 If you operate a carousel system in your class, you can place the different activities on the tables for children to practise number work/patterns. Content and Description Includes Teacher Notes • Counting in ones missing number sequence worksheet – Children complete sequence by writing the missing numbers in the heart. • Number bonds to 10 and 20 - x2 sets of worksheets – this is a cut and stick activity. Children cut out a broken heart on worksheet 2 to match and stick to a broken heart on worksheet 1. The hearts add up to 10 on one set of worksheets; and then add up to 20 on the second set of worksheets. • Counting using Tens Frame – Pictures are placed in different positions on the tens frame. Children count and write the number in the space provided. • Count and tick to match activity – Numicon – Children count the pictures in the squares and then tick the Numicon shape that matches the number of pictures. • Colour Sequence Worksheet – Children work out what comes next in the colour sequence and then complete the last two or three squares. This product relates to recording data, completing tally charts, creating a pictogram and completing block graphs. Aimed at: KS1 Content and description: - Teacher Notes Favourite Colour Hearts: • Worksheet A – Students complete the tally chart by counting the hearts shown below. • Worksheet B – Cut and glue activity. Students use the data from the tally chart to colour in the hearts. Then they cut out the hearts and glue onto the pictogram worksheet to produce a pictogram. Students then give the pictogram a title. • Worksheet C – Students answer questions relating to the pictogram/tally chart. (9 questions and colour the heart in their favourite colour) - ANSWERS PROVIDED • Additional work – Block Graph Worksheet. Students complete the graph with the same data used for the pictogram above. This resource is on the hundred square and the 1-120 square/grid. Students gain practice in moving up and down in tens and matching tens and ones/units grids to the numbers on the hundred square. Referring to the hundred square to complete word problem questions. If you are looking for some hundred square activities, then resource is ideal for use in lessons, review and homework. Answer Keys included. Content: • Worksheet 1 – (2 pages) - Students complete the hundred square from 1 to 100. After completing it, there are 11 questions to answer. • Worksheet 2 – (2 pages) - Students fill in the partially completed hundred square. After completing it, there are 7 activities to do. This is a St David’s Day theme product which contains five different maths activities. Optional preparation: You can cut out the puzzle pieces and have children assemble them or get the children to cut out the sheets of puzzle pieces and they can assemble and glue onto a separate sheet of paper or into their workbooks. This product relates to UK sterling money pounds and pence. Its aim is to encourage students to use different skills to find solutions to a two-step problem. Aimed at: Keystage 1/Lower Keystage 2. Ideal for revising adding up coins and to finding how much more money to pay for an item. The worksheets start off with small denominations and then it increases to 50p and £1. There are 60 differentiated worksheets. Worksheet 1 - up to 10p (11 pages) Worksheet 2 - up to 20p (11 pages) Worksheet 3 - up to 30p (12 pages) Worksheet 4 - up to 50p (12 pages) Worksheet 5 - up to £1.00 (14 pages) <strong>Description: </strong> The worksheet is divided into 3 columns. The first column contains the price of the item. The second column shows the coins the customer uses to pay for the item but unfortunately it is not enough. The problem is in two parts: - Add up the total amount of the coins and write it in the blank box. Find out how much the customer is short by, i.e. how much more he/she has to pay and then fill in the box. The space above the box in the third column is for the student to show their workings out. It contains lots of practice on place value and partitioning- hands on practice and visual worksheets Aimed at: KS1/2 I have included all the resources you will need but you may wish to use concrete resources such as the tens rods, unit blocks and hundred blocks to complement this resource. **Content: ** • Digit cards 0 to 9 inclusive • Place value grid – 100s, 10s, 1s • Hundreds block in different colours, tens towers and units block (laminate and cut out) for various activities • Title cards – hundreds, tens, units/ones • 4 sets of worksheets that include cut/paste activity Activity 1 (7 differentiated pages) – (cut and paste) The student(s) works out what the number is in the place value grid and then select and cut out the correct answer and stick it onto the blank square. Bingo cards are whole page size - print and laminate Ideally print out the other resources onto card paper, laminate and cut out - use again and again. Editable Call out cards 6 Clock bingo cards – showing o’clock times 20 Clock bingo cards – showing o’clock and half past times 40 Clock bingo cards – showing o’clock, half past, quarter before/after times 5 sets of Domino cards – print off, laminate, cut out - (analogue/digital) Set of clocks - to print off and laminate - can use for time snap and/or sequencing time activity Practical Activities you can set up for students to play: Time bingo (analogue clocks) use with non-permanent dry-erase pens Clock sort – mix up the clocks and students sort clockwise the times from 1 o’ clock to 12 o’clock. Children can play time snap – Print the larger clocks several times. You can say a time and the children pick either the word card or the clock that matches that time. Play clock dominoes (analogue/digital)– reinforce reading the time. Resources are editable.
