SOW created using a mish-mash of resources found online. Students build skills in writing using quotes as well as developing their ideas based on those presented in a text. Final assessment asks students to explain how sympathy is built towards a character within an extract.

The following resources were created as part of a transition unit at the end of KS3. It is meant to revise skills for reading, annotating and analyzing poetry in preparation for the new WJEC English spec. Skills studied in this unit are meant to aid in critical analysis and essay writing. There is also a Speaking and Listening task, which should be assessed using GCSE specifications.

I've made the following resources to help support Year 10 WJEC English coursework, in which students write a controlled assessment analysing a theme within a Shakespearean play as well as across at least three different poems. I've focused on Macbeth and conflict this year, so thought I'd share some of the lessons I plan to use.

I've created three mock Literature Exam style papers for practicing exam skills with my top set year 11 group. Having no past papers to go from thus far, they're just my attempt to give the students a 'realistic' feel for the types of questions they may experience. Feel free to adapt and change.

I can not claim credit for the SOW itself, but the PPTs have all been created by myself to fit into the SOW found here. Focus of the unit is to introduce students to the genre of sci-fi (specifically time travel). A revison lesson I've planned for use with my top set year 11 group re: revising for English Literature exam.

I initially created this to fill a cover lesson, during an absense. It’s a fun activity to do with KS3 students, to get them to warm up to the idea of producing poetry, without the pressure of writing it entirely on their own. It requires old newspapers, scissors, and glue. Details are all contained in the PPT, which acts as a lesson plan.

This is the second half of the unit I'm currently doing with my year 7 groups. The first half required them to work on their writing skills. My intention here is to introduce them to various forms of poetry by showing a few examples and then having them create their own poems. Can be adapted and changed as needed.

The rest of the 'lessons' created for my top set study of Never Let Me Go. Again, don't be scared off by number of 'lessons'. Most of the PPTs are focusing on one chapter at a time, so you may find you use two in a lesson, depending on how much debate and discussion you have.

The following resource, a powerpoint lesson presentation, goes through an introduction to Arthur Miller's play A View from the Bridge, as well as breaks the first Act down, scene by scene. Each scene is followed by comprehension questions to aid in developing a sense of plot and character. The Word document is a simple character grid, where students record character information and then go on quote quests to find corresponding quotes. I am making my group complete this as we finish each section, with the intention that it will be invaluable to them when revising.
