A murder mystery lesson. This is aimed at getting students to work out facts and use evidence to work out the truth. The lesson was super engaging for both my top and bottom sets. Can be taught two ways either place the information around the rooms and students walk around and try and find it/ or place all the evidence into a pack (brown envelope, can place stickers on the envelope, students loved the little touches made it feel like a real CSI investigation). Students then work as a group trying to find out the story, this allows a competition element. The lesson ends with a write up of an account a writing frame is provided.

A lesson that looks at the life before and after the abolition of slavery, this lesson is designed to give students a better contextual knowledge about African American’s experience. A range of plenary activities. The Plenary wheel rotates when pressed. The plenary chooser will light up one of the activities. The ometer acts as a class meter reading on a debate question, students vote by clicking agree or disagree button and the needle will move with each vote till the last one which will show the class average and a discussion can follow. Use the class voter to carry out a class poll on their opinions to a question. Work well when comparing who they think is the most important person. The shoot out works by splitting the class into teams. Ask the students questions and if they get it right they can press shoot button and keep score of the item that was shot. Students loved this task. The plenary activities are all different version of the same task.
