10 obligatory acts
This lesson explores the 10 obligatory acts of Shi’a Islam. The lesson introduces students to the 10 obligations and uses the ‘link method’ to help students remember them and understand why they are important to followers. This lesson links to the New edexcel RE ‘Living a Muslim Life’ syllabus.
The Jewish Diaspora
This lesson explores what is meant by diaspora. I have always used this lesson with ethnically mixed classes which certainly helps with the starter activity. The lesson looks at the history of the Jewish Disapora and reflects on the unique nature of Judaism as both a religion and an ethnicity.
This lesson is suitable for mid-high ability students. It will need differentiation for weaker students.
Different types of family
This is an introductory resource to support students in exploring and understanding different types of family unit. The lesson includes starter, main and plenary activities, the corresponding worksheets for which are included at the end of the powerpoint.
This lesson was developed for a class of year 7 students who have additional learning needs, however it can be used for KS2 classes or developed for more able KS3 classes.

Evil and Suffering
This bundle of lessons includes the power points for a whole scheme of work on evil and suffering. The lessons range from an introduction to the idea of evil, through to an exploration of the nature of God, responses to the problem of evil, Buddhist perspectives and an assessment task. These lessons are interactive and include many tasks that encourage students to develop their oral/discussion skills. These lessons can be used at KS3 or 4 and strongly support the the Edexcel GCSE syllabus.

These lessons explore the Christmas through the significance of advent, the nativity story and a reflection on Christmas' meaning in secular/capitalist society. These lesson contain a range of tasks, some of which are differentiated. Can be used in connection to the new edxcel GCSE syllabus.
Christmas and its commercialisation - without lesson plan
This lesson begins by looking at some of the traditional symbolism used at Christmas time to represent the nativity. This task gauges how informed students are about the Christian aspects of the festival before moving to reflect on the issue of commercialization.
Sacraments: Ordination - without lesson plan
This lesson looks at the sacrament of ordination. Students learn about what is involved in the vocation of the priesthood and the process of becoming ordained.

Pilgrimage to the Israel/Jerusalem (the Holy Land) without lesson plan
This lesson looks at the spiritual value of a pilgrimage made to Israel from a Christian perspective. Using a carousel activity students visit six different key locations in the Holy land and reflect on their biblical significance and how visiting such places may help a Christian feel closer to God.

Intro to the sacraments - without lesson plan
This lesson serves as an introduction to the 7 sacraments of the Catholic church. It encourages students to reflect on the idea of ‘outward expressions of inward grace’ through a range of activities.

Easter - without lesson plan
In this lesson students consider the symbolism of Easter, why it is an important festival for Christians and asks students to compare the theological importance of Easter with that of Christmas.
Women in medicine
This lesson begins by looking at the different roles women have traditionally filled in the field of medicine from the Medieval period to the 19th century through examination of a range of sources. The lesson then moves onto look at the development of the smallpox vaccine and the largely unknown woman who played a role in eradicating the disease.
The Last Anglo-Saxon King and the Battle of Stamford Bridge
This is a double lesson for KS3 which first investigates some of the complexities of Harold Godwinson’s family before exploring the events of the Battle of Stamford Bridge. These lessons include structured activities including card sorts and freeze frames to help engage a range of learning styles.

This lesson explore the theological basis of lent and encourages students to reflect on why the practice of giving up things we love/enjoy can be beneficial for ourselves and wider society.

Euthanasia introduction. This lesson gives an introduction to what euthanasia is, the law and some of the key arguments for and against it. It has some differentiated resources suitable for supporting very weak students.
