These quizzes are for Edexcel but they will also work for AQA for the most part (minor tweaks only). They are thematic- 20 questions per theme with a separate 20 questions on the case studies. (Care and Treatment is huge so this has 22) The questions/ answers are also all in chronological order to help support the building of a narrative of change over time. They are based on the WASIIC factors we use to explain reasons for change/ continuity (War, Attitudes, Science and TEch, Institutions, Individuals and Chance). Box for self evaluation at the bottom. We use these to check how well students are revising- we set them themes to revise each week then quiz them in class in test conditions. They can be peer marked to save time and you still get the results to put in your mark book if you need.

Useful for Senior Leadership Links and Heads of Department/ Faculty/ Key Stage. My department recently had a very positive experience in an Ofsted Deep Dive. I have attached some useful materials to help other Heads of Department to support the process and to support their teams in what could be (but doesn’t need to be) a stressful experience. Firstly it is important to know- this is not a quick fix- you cannot pull the wool over their eyes if your department has a lot of work to do. However it is not a problem if you have areas of development as long as you and your team know what they are and you have a plan to address them. OCR ALevel lesson for Russia 1894-1941 Examines the role and aims of Stolypin as well as detailed information on his policies, methods and the impact of his actions on Russia. Fully resourced lesson with very detailed information and evidence, a range of tasks- card sort, video, evaluation table, report card, sources etc. Includes 10 mark exam question for OCR about the relative significance of Witte and Stolypin in bringing stability to Russia.

The Background to and Causes of the Tyrone Rebellion ALevel OCR- Tudor Rebellions. The 9 Years War Irish History This is one of the Depth studies- a likely exam question since the focus has largely been on the Pilgrimage of Grace and the Western Rebellion up til now. This work will take several one hour lessons - it recaps the prior Irish rebellions such as Desmond and Geraldine since the legacy of these was one of the reasons. Looks at Tyrone’s demands as well as the motivations of Hugh Roe O’Donnell and Hugh Maguire.

This lesson is for KS3 not KS4 therefore is more focused on the Big 3 and their aims rather than simply the impact on Germany and Dolchstoss etc- I do have a lesson for KS4 as well Fully resourced lesson with several different activities. 2 hour ALevel lesson designed to evaluate stability in Russia between 1906-1914, Designed for OCR course but can be used for AQA or Edexcel also. Very comprehensive with detailed resources for independent learning and enquiries, debate and discussion. Follows my lesson on Stolypin and Witte and evaluating their relative significance. This is also designed to go before studying the impact of WWI on RUssia so students can evaluate how far WWI caused the February revolution 1917. Lesson inspired by Miranda Kaufmann’s Black Tudors book- stories of four inspiring Black individuals and what they can tell us about Black African people in Tudor England. This is also part of my unit of work on Tudor monarchs priced £6 for all the lessons if you would rather get more lessons on the Tudors for KS3. They are very high challenge and include a variety of retrieval tasks.
