A simple but engaging revision game to revise 10 key quotations from each scene. Start and scene 1 and roll the dice. The students can advance if they can analyse the quotation they land on. You can differentiate it easily by asking for two inferences per quotation and asking for links to specific A0s. Dice not included.

20 Quotations revisions cards covering 20 of the most important quotations in the novella. These are aimed at high ability students to help ensure their analysis of quotations is thorough and perceptive to meet the Band 5 or 6 stages of the mark scheme. Each card contains detailed notes linked to the three assessment objects A01, A02 and A03. The notes are colour-coded to help with this. Also methods are underlined to help students see how they meeting the requirements for A02. Simply cut out each revision card and fold them to create double sided cards with the quotation on the front and the analysis on the back. Also presented as an A3 knowledge organiser. A lesson looking at 4 short key extracts from Act 5 Scene 1. Includes a starter looking at irony.

A 19 slide revision lesson for Paper 1 Question 5. Best used over 2/3 lessons. Using the image of a haunted house as the inspiration, students complete a series of tasks on a worksheet (attached) aimed at developing skills for Paper 1 Question 5 (covering sentence types and openers, advanced punctuation and figurative language) before completing the description. Students then evaluate their work using the suggested strategies. Also contains a lesson which goes through some high level exemplars of a lighthouse.

Knowledge Organiser for Lord of the Flies along with a PowerPoint slide that contains questions explaining how students should use the knowledge organiser to revise each character’s development in the novel. I have selected crossover quotations that link to both characters and themes. I have also included some ideas for how to approach A03 context for each character and theme. The second page has a blank version of the knowledge organiser. I ask students to fill as much of the blank one in as they can and then show them my answers at the end.

A new and vastly improved character revision sheet for 2023-2024 This A3 sheet contains a thesis-style introduction and 10 key quotations analysed in detail for the 4 main characters in Lord of the Flies: Piggy, Simon, Ralph and Jack. Also contains a blank template version. I give students the blank template first to see how much they can recall before going over the answers.
