A great, interactive lesson on identifying and analyzing persuasive language features in newspapers. Used with both year 7 and 8 to open up discussion and analysis. Whiteboards are a fun addition to the lesson. All resources, learning objectives and success criteria included in the lesson.

An engaging and thought provoking P4C lesson discussing animal testing, with a simple article as stimulus. A good article to analyse for non-fiction text alongside novels as well. Lesson includes a paired task where they research alternatives to animal testing which can be used in two ways. A great way to get students talking. The entire lesson is planned with resources, Learning Objectives and Success Criteria. Good for encouraging communication, justification of ideas and listening skills. Students really enjoy P4C and it is structured in a way that means all children can achieve.

A powerpoint, including useful revision cards reminding students how to answer each question of Component 1, alongside a 'practice the skills' lesson for each question using extracts from James and the Giant Peach, as well as a lesson on Component 2, using Bill Bryson and Rudyard Kipling for the 20th and 19th century non fiction respectively. A planned lesson allowing students to research Victorian History and the invention of Christmas Cards. Students are able to identify, label and apply presentational features whilst learning more contextual information about Victorian life. This lesson has all learning objectives, success criteria and resources available in one PowerPoint, as well as 'real life' links. Any students studying Charles Dickens or other Victorian Authors could use this lesson as a Christmas lesson whilst ensuring students are engaging in contextual resource.

A complete lesson for GCSE students studying Willy Russell's Blood Brothers looking at the characters of Mickey and Edward. The lesson begins with a quick task on connectives to ensure students utilise them in their writing. After that, the students have the chance to revise the events and characters of the play before analysing quotes. A quote 'cheat sheet' is included in the PowerPoint for students who struggle to memorise quotes. The students then have the chance to write a practice essay with some key sentence starters included.
