I am passionate about learning that is tailored to children's interests and gives lots of opportunity for children to be creative and critical thinkers. I love activities that involve problem-solving and teamwork. I think it's important that learning materials cater to a variety of learning styles and get kids moving, using their hands to make things, and appeal to them visually. I also try to make my teaching have real-world applications whenever possible.

Paper planes are fun to make and fly, so they make a great activity for learning about the science behind flight. This pack contains experiments that illustrate the forces of flight in action, and an interactive visual aid so students can see the forces that act on a plane in a hands-on way.
These activities are cross-curricular as measurement skills are used to record how far the planes fly, and students determine the best unit of measurement. For younger students, the experiment asks them to record distance using their steps.
Teaching points are included along with recommended websites to help explain the concepts.
What’s included?
Experiment for younger students: use a light and strong throw to see how it affects the distance the plane flies (measuring using their steps)
Experiment to plan and carry out a test to show how wings are needed to create lift, and how thrust is needed to make a plane move
Experiment to show how the strength of a throw affects the distance, and use observations and measurements to predict what would happen with more throws
Experiment to show how drag/air resistance affects a plane with and without flaps
Visual directions to make a simple dart airplane, but students may know other designs they could use
